Heels (Starz) -- S: Stephen Amell, Alexander Ludwig -- Wrestling drama series -- premieres 8/15/21
"Heels" is a story about the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small town pro wrestling. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals war over their late father's legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel. But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to - or hard to leave behind.
I could have sworn there was a thread for this. Anyways, see above, the first production stills have been released of Stephen Amell's 1st series post Arrow. I believe it's been filmed in Canada right now.
Premieres this summer. I know there aren't many people here who have Starz, so I'm just putting this on your radar in case you subscribe at some point.
This show was greenlit back in 2019 when Amell was shooting the final season of Arrow.

True, but I guess I'm more conditioned to accept moves like that in comic book movie. Even though Natasha isn't super powered, it fits in with the rest of the movie. Also I guess because she is a trained super-spy, she gets away with stuff like that more easily. You could say that she's trained to do it.
It would actually make it easier for me to accept that move in this show if it were treating the wrestling business as real, so she's trained to do that. But they are obviously acknowledging that the business is a show in this series, so she's not trained to actually flip someone using the strength of her legs. She's trained to jump up and wrap her legs around someone's head while they jump forward and flip.

This premieres tonight on Starz. Amell has been promoting this like crazy over the past few weeks.
I'm not a wrestling fan, but I will check it out as I do like Amell. Starz shows don't get much talk at all here as I presume the majority of you here don't have it.

That was actually pretty decent and very character driven. The ending was pretty messed up. Amell’s character is a dick.

Enjoying the show. Not perfect, but it is one of the few shows I watch right away once it drops

I've watched it on Sunday mornings while I workout and I've enjoyed it.

I've watched the first two episodes. I like it, I'll keep watching. I'm not a big fan of Alexander Ludwig, but he's good in this, but it's Stephen Amell who carries the show.

I enjoyed the season as well. It's a cool take on a show about a family in small town America. I would have liked more flashbacks with David James Elliott, in his sublte acting he nailed the sadness of the character.

I only saw the 1st episode. Need to get back on it and finish the season. I'm honestly not really a fan of wrestling, but I do like Amell, so I'll get back on it eventually. Glad it's going to continue.

Glad it got renewed too. They filmed this around Spring 2020 and Amell is currently filming the Code 8 sequel, so I’m guessing we’ll see Season 2 at the end of 2022 or early 2023
