You'd think Shaun would be good with COVID as he's uncomfortable with physical contact.

Wow, that was surreal and pretty well done how they handled COVID and events leading up to the outbreak. Whoever was the medical adviser of the show did a pretty good job trying to keep things fairly accurate including the social distancing and use of PPE.

Remember, this was in the early days of COVID. They went through weeks 1-5. So the use of masks wasn't mandatory in California at the time. They had a whole floor that didn't require the use of masks for non COVID patients. But, I'm sure that will change going forward.

I at Glassman and Debbie having marital tension from spending way too much time together.

So judging by that preview, looks like the older nurse who's been a recurring character on this show is going to get sick from COVID.

at Shaun hating the idea of virtual sex with Leah. Pretty good start. And I'm glad that Shaun and Leah are together after that annoying see-saw in season 3 with Carly.

Best episode of the series by far, and the first medical drama I've seen that's dealt with the repercussions of the pandemic. Well done to the writing crew.

If I was married to Debbie I'd want to spend as much time with her as possible.

I didn't know they were a couple in real life. That's nice when they can make that all work out.

I hope this show moves beyond the virus now. My wife loves this show but she says she watches TV to escape away from the day to day stuff she has to deal with.

Fortunately the previews for next week looks like they are moving on and will go back to focusing on the main storyline.

Now they can both play out what they did on the show.

Ep2 is back to it's smaltzy formula.

re: The Good Doctor (ABC) -- Season 4 and beyond Thread

I didn't think Frontline Part 2 was a "schmaltzy" episode as you said. It was a good continuation. It dealt with the pain of losing someone to COVID and the suffering of not being around someone you love.

I know Nurse Deena was only a small character, but that was a kick in the nuts to see her die and have her son okay the plug being pulled. Most of the staff don't really like Reznik and I thought that was cool that Nurse Deena's son relayed that message that she respected Morgan. And Doctor Browne got the closure she needed with Melendez.

I'm glad at the end that they resolved Leah and Shaun being apart. Keeping them apart would have gotten really old fast.

With Schiff and Kelley both out being COVID positive, I'm guessing we'll be seeing less of Debbie and Glassman for a few episodes until they're better.

It looked like from that promo that next week is lightening up the mood a little.

IIRC, they are shooting episode 7 or 8 right now AND it’s probably “break” time anyway for some shows for shooting, so I don’t know if we will see much of an impact.

Richard Schiff is hospitalized. Kelley is at home sick still and now their son is sick.

I hope they both recover. If they have to, write out Glassman and Debbie indefinitely until they can fully recover. At this point, work is secondary. They need to get better.

So have they skipped past the end of the pandemic now for the rest of the episodes? I didn't fully catch the preview for next episode.

Yes. They are in a world where COVID is over, thankfully.

re: The Good Doctor (ABC) -- Season 4 and beyond Thread

Just now starting season 4. I was ready to bail after last season, as it kinda lost its way as a medical drama and became too soap opera-y with all Glassman's issues, Shawn and Leah's back and forth nonsense, etc. However, my wife loves the show so we're still in.

The first two episodes dealing with Covid might be the best of the series. Episode 3 with the new med students was equally great. They got a decent group of new docs. Episode 4 continues to prove they're back on track with being a medical drama. Only downside is they're veering into House territory where every patient has the absolute worst odds at survival and a miracle is performed in the last 5 minutes.

No S5 Good Doctor topic?

St Boneventure has the worst security.

If you’d thought this show already jumped the shark a million times by now you’d be wrong.

A stabbin’ for everyone!

I still watch this via the ABC app a week delayed and finally caught up.

I had flashbacks to Kellie Martin’s exit from ER, she was fatally stabbed (during a Valentine’s Day party no less), but Noah Wylie’s character got two stab wounds and survived. The writers must be fans of ER.

They held two episodes for next season, so this wasn't meant to be the season finale.

It's dumb, shell be fine.

Just finished the season finale...and what a cascade of emotions it was. The scenes with Asher and his Abba (Dad in Hebrew) were heartbreaking.

Unfortunately, I read this thread prior and saw the word "stabbin" and kept waiting and waiting....

Until, BAM! Quite a shock at the final shot.

I don't watch this show, but I did see a blurb that said they were looking to develop a The Good Lawyer series, which I assume would be about an autistic lawyer.

Then today, I saw a story about this popular Netflix Korean show: Extraordinary Attorney Woo. Attorney Woo Young-woo tackles challenges in the courtroom and beyond as a new lawyer at a top firm and a woman on the autism spectrum.

No, the lawyer will not be autistic, but she will have OCD. Her and another character from the spinoff will appear in the new season of The Good Doctor first.

Compelling drama.

Judge: "Defense, are you prepared to call your first witness?"

Attorney: "Request a 5 minute recess, your honor."

Judge: "For what purpose?"

Attorney: "I need to go wash my hands for exactly two minutes. Then, count to 100. And then, spin around 3 times before I re-enter the courtroom."

Canceled. Upcoming 7th season will be the last: https://tvline.com/news/the-good-doc...bc-1235096684/

This is a network drama that I did look forward to watching every week. Surprised that it's ending already. It still feels like a relatively new show to me.

Me too. One of the few network shows I still watched weekly (but I would miss it from time to time and catch up online). At least they're giving it a final season where they can wrap stuff up.
