Interesting that now they're unmasking multiple singers every episode. You'd think they would run out of celebrities that would be willing to do this faster, but it probably let's them get a lot of people that are really only willing to do a single episode. When I saw this new format, I was thinking to myself that someone like William Shatner would probably do this if they told him he only needed to be in a single episode and well...what do you know.

Wouldnt that mean the show is set up?

Did you ever think it wasn't? I don't think I even saw the audience "voting" in this episode. I'm not even sure they have an actual audience there. They did a pretty good job of editing in a fake audience the past few seasons when they couldn't have one.

I signed up to be in audiences for a lot of shows. There is an actual audience for this as I keep getting emails about tapings. If I remember the last one I got included an offer of a gift for attending.

What others have told me is that the audience is removed for the actual unmasking to maintain secrecy. The audience is coached to react and scream to an empty stage.

I did go to America’s Got Talent a few times and @Midnight. At one of the Talent tapings, one of the crew quit on the spot after a contestant supposedly stole his comedy act for the audition.

This crew member was the warm-up host and helped keep the contestants from getting bored waiting. A comedian obviously and he did an act for the waiting contestants. One of those contestants then did that act as his audition. The judges passed him through. The host was upset and told the producers. Nothing was done and so he quit & walked out. When I watched the show when it aired, that act never made the final cut.

^ That's fucking insane!

Comedians are really touchy about joke-stealing to begin with, and to do it that blatantly...

I'm sure no one here will admit to still watching this, but if anyone was...I'm watching tonight's episode now and getting some kind of descriptive audio coming from my surround speakers. It's someone describing what's being shown on the screen. Really weird, I've never gotten this before.

I don't watch this but I had that same thing happen on Gold Rush this season. Taped episodes play what I assume is some accessibility option where it describes what's on screen. I have no idea what it is or why it started. I have to delete the DVR recordings and stream the show on demand. Hulu Live, if that makes a difference.

It was the same thing for the episode of Snake Oil after The Masked Singer. I wonder if the Fox affiliate in Chicago had messed up the audio settings somehow.

I still watch it. Never live, always recorded so you can fast forward through ALL the filler.

That's how I watch. Usually Wednesday evening after it has finished airing.

Yep, I'm near Chicago too and it's like the AD was hard coded into the feed. I waited a few minutes after it aired, and then the Philadelphia feed was up on OnDemand without descriptive audio.

Re: The Masked Singer (FOX) — Season 4 and beyond Thread

Now just one season and no Fall edition in 2025.

Has the novelty worn off?

Deadline announced that The Masked Singer season 14 has been renewed. With this exciting news comes a huge and disappointing caveat: the show will not air in fall 2025; instead, the reality competition show will return in January 2026. "Debuting the new season in January is a strategic move to give ample runway for America's favorite guessing game and allow us to creatively look at enhancing the show with the biggest names at the center of it," the network said in a statement to Deadline.

This unfortunate scheduling update could mean that The Masked Singer is downsizing to one season per year permanently. However, it sounds like this is just a temporary change and there's a strong chance that the two-season-per-year format will return eventually, according to Deadline. Whether it'll come as early as fall 2026 is unknown at this point.

Ever since The Masked Singer debuted in 2019, it has never been missing from the network's fall schedule, which is why this latest news is extremely shocking.

When the majority of the people still watching are wondering Who the fuck is that? when the masks come off, yeah, I think the novelty has worn off.

I'm worried that Nick can't afford the loss of income from them delaying the next season.

I wonder why the are trying to fool when somebody thinks DiCaprio or Christian Bale are under the costumes when no way in hell they would appear on that show.
