The only reason I will give this a chance is that they completely own fucking up the show toward the end. If this was just another nostalgic reboot, I probably wouldn't give it any thought. Owning the fact they let the fans down is a good step in the right direction.

Re: Dexter Limited series coming to Showtime -- Michael C. Hall to return
I didn't mind the lumberjack part, but I really disliked the last season and I'm generally pretty forgiving, when it comes to shows I like. I defend Lost, I like the last season of Game of Thrones (it just had too few episodes) and I liked every season of Dexter, but the last one was so badly written, Dexter opponent was badly cast and just boring, so hopefully they give the show a better send-off this time around.

Re: Dexter Limited series coming to Showtime -- Michael C. Hall to return
I can't remember what ever happened to Rita and Dexter's kids but wouldn't it make sense to include them in any reboot? If its 10 years later they should both be in their late teens/early 20s. Altho the show didn't push it as hard as the book series did, Dexter basically had raised them to be future serial killers.
I think it would be fun to have Dexter have to deal with the aftermath of how his children ended up. Maybe end up getting lured back to his old ways by having to save them or protect them from what they ended up becoming.... doesn't sound like the kids are being included based on what I've read here tho. |

Cody and Astor were written off after Rita’s death. Her parents took them. Harrison went with Hannah, which I found a weird choice, but I guess it’s because he essentially decides to self isolate after everything. Deb’s death I think being the capper.

Oh nice. I knew it was filming this year, but didn’t realize it was coming in Fall. Looking forward to it.

Re: Dexter Limited series coming to Showtime -- Michael C. Hall to return
just saw an announcement on Facebook that The Bull Run in Shirley MA is closing for a few weeks as it's been booked for an 'Award-Winning Showtime show to film there.' It's a pretty cool restaurant, there is actually a portrait inside of the Redcoats marching past the place building during the War of Independence. Pre-pandemic my wife and I ate there fairly often for dine-in. A little out of the way for takeout so have not been for a while.

Re: Dexter Limited series coming to Showtime -- Michael C. Hall to return
Apparently Dexter will be using the name Jim Lindsay in the new season. A nod to the author of the book series, Jeff Lindsay.
Dexter Shows Us Who Jim Lindsay Is And Now It Makes Perfect SenseAfter Scott Reynolds and Marcos Siega shared a page from Showtime's Dexter revival series, viewers got to see who "Jim Lindsay" is.Ray FlookMay 25, 2021| Well, that didn't take long. Only hours after Dexter writer/producer Scott Reynolds and director/EP Marcos Siegashared a page from showrunner/writer Clyde Phillips' upcoming Showtime revival series script that had us wondering who "Jim Lindsay" was, we got our answer via a newly-released mini-teaser. And let's just say that it's someone Michael C. Hall's Dexter Morgan is veryfamiliar with. https://mlpnk72yciwc.i.optimole.com/...dextease-1.jpgImage: ScreencapHere's a look at the newest teaser for Dexter, with our beloved serial-killer-with-a-code taking on the role of Jim Lindsay, Fred's Fish & Game Sales Associate (that script page make a whole lot more sense now, right?)- with the series return set for later this year: So for an official look at Hall's return to one of the roles that made him famous (with much love to Six Feet Under), here's a look at our own Dexter Morgan- looking to make sure he's not "Misunderstood"(and he still needs to work on a sudden smile that doesn't come across that creepy): Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption, Carnivàle), Julia Jones (The Mandalorian), Alano Miller (Sylvie's Love), Johnny Sequoyah (Believe), Jack Alcott (The Good Lord Bird), Michael Cyril Creighton (Game Night, Dash & Lily), David Magidoff (The Morning Show), Jamie Chung (Lovecraft Country), and Oscar Wahlberg (Manchester By the Sea) will be joining Hall for the series' return. Phillips, Hall, John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Bill Carraro, and Scott Reynolds executive produce. Marcos Siega executive produces as well as directs six episodes of the season. Jones' Angela Bishop is the first Native American Chief of Police in her town in upstate New York, while Sequoyah's Audrey is Bishop's brash and opinionated teenage daughter. Miller's Logan is a sergeant for the Iron Lake Police Department and the assistant wrestling coach for the local high school, while Dexter has a "meaningful encounter" with Alcott's Randall. The four actors join Brown, who portrays Kurt Caldwell. Born and raised in the town of Iron Lake, he's realized the American dream by going from driving big rigs, just like his father did, to now owning several trucks and the local truck stop. Powerful, generous, loved by everyone – he's a true man of the people. If he's got your back, consider yourself blessed. But should you cross Kurt, or hurt anyone that he cares for… God help you. Creighton's Fred Jr. is the congenial owner of Fred's Fish & Game, a shop he inherited from his father. He has grown up in Iron Lake and is a regular fixture around town that everybody knows and loves, whether it's line dancing at the local tavern or singing in the choir. He's married to Brian, the pastor of the town's small church. Magidoff's Teddy is the "new guy" who's only been a cop in Iron Lake for 2-1/2 weeks. Good-natured, quirky, hardworking, eager to please; and a little scared of his boss, Police Chief Bishop. Chung's Molly is a famous true-crime podcaster from Los Angeles while Wahlberg's Zach is the captain of the Iron Lake High School wrestling team. A bit of a bully but generally the go-to guy to have a good time, Zach is the gateway to the in-crowd- which includes the daughter of the chief of police. |

Re: Dexter Limited series coming to Showtime -- Michael C. Hall to return
Just found out they are actually filming in my town now. A place called one-stop fun, it's a little kids birthday party kind of place they painted the front of the building and added a giant clown face which is covered when they are not filming. I may have to watch the show just to see what I recognize at this point.

Re: Dexter Limited series coming to Showtime -- Michael C. Hall to return
So flashback or maybe Dexter’s Dark Passenger will be manifested by multiple people from his past. Wonder if Julie Benz will return as Rita at all.
It could also be the ending that Phillips has talked about in the past where Dexter is being executed and sees all his victims. Although from the sounds of things this potentially could be open to continue. |

Although from the sounds of things this potentially could be open to continue. “I think Dexter has moved way past Rita,” Benz opines. “It doesn’t make sense for her to be on his mind as a ghost because she was only his cover. He didn’t internalize her, so there are no plans for Rita to show up. I would obviously do it in a heartbeat if they asked. But I’ve always said Rita shouldn’t make an appearance in his head because she didn’t know the real him. She didn’t know the Dark Passenger.” |
Re: Dexter Limited series coming to Showtime -- Michael C. Hall to return
That’s kind of a shame. In a way it feels like the show did her (the actress, not necessarily the character) kind of dirty. She didn’t even know going into the season that her character was being killed off until the scene was shot. I get the rationale, but I would like to see her back somehow.

Re: Dexter Limited series coming to Showtime -- Michael C. Hall to return
I’m going with my earlier thought that Dexter’s Dark Passenger is manifesting itself in multiple forms (victims and people who knew what he really was). That seems to make sense.

Re: Dexter Limited series coming to Showtime -- Michael C. Hall to return
So “dead” characters make their return but none alive?
Im in regardless, but would be interested to see what’s up with the remaining Miami cast. |
