Sad to hear indeed. It's nice to see that he has already received 183K in donations in one day! very impressive, seems like a pretty decent guy and a good actor.

That's brutal.
My grandfather had a massive stroke that left him paralyzed on the right side and unable to speak for the last 4 years of his life. He had just retired, too. I've seen firsthand how brutal situations like this can be.
There's no way to know if Hogan can make a recovery. How much of this is permanent, and how much can he get back. Speech? Function of limbs? Cognitive ability? Hell, he lost the ability to swallow! Can he regain that? So much that we take for granted, but if you lose it life becomes a horrible struggle.
I really hope that he makes some kind of recovery - enough to have some kind of quality of life. A full recovery would be great, but I'm sure his family would be happy with cognitive ability, speech, and swallowing.
And, yeah, this is horribly sad.
