RIP Naya Rivera (Glee)

https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/l...mpression=true

"Glee" actress and singer Naya Rivera was presumed dead after her unaccompanied 4-year-old son was found floating on a boat on Lake Piru in Ventura County Wednesday, authorities said.

The Ventura County Sheriff's Department said it responded to a report of the toddler alone on a boat around 4:48 p.m. Officers on scene found the child, but no information was immediately released about the child's condition.

A dive team and air unit were deployed in response, the VCSD said.

The department was investigating a possible drowning associated with the child.

The actress and singer went swimming and the boy got back into the boat but the mother did not, the sheriff's department said. The boy had a life vest but Rivera did not, officials said.

Divers were searching for the mother of the 4-year-old, who was found alone in a pontoon boat about three hours after it was rented.

This is Naya Rivera

Is the cast of Glee cursed? This is the third death of the main cast. Three cast members died before they turned 40.

Her brother Mychal Rivera was a tight end for the Raiders in the early 2010's.

Sad story and wonder if it could have been avoided?

The first two were very much self inflicted so I'm not sure I would say cursed per se.

He played for Tennessee in college. I remember Naya was at his final home game as a senior.

Sad news and unfortunately it doesn't sound promising after checking the Twitter handle of the Ventura County Sheriff department for status. They resumed the search this morning.

re: RIP Naya Rivera (Glee)

Is it possible that she thought she could hold her breath and thought it would be cool to try to swim as far down to the bottom of the lake as she could but realized too late that she should have started her return to the surface well before she did and her body gave out on her causing her to drown? I could see an amateur swimmer not realizing that you need scuba equipment (and training) to go down below a certain depth in a lake or body of water. If someone drowns they typically do not end up floating due to all the water filling their lungs, correct?

This is so profoundly sad and I have to think she did not commit suicide but did indeed miscalculate her ability to swim in the lake without the proper equipment. Again, just pulling guesses out of my rear over what happened but it does sound like she drowned.

Really tragic story. I grew to like her character in Glee more and more as the show went on, though I haven't followed her since. She was quite beautiful and talented. So sad for her little boy to lose her like this at such a young age.

Well, I guess it could have been avoided if he had been traded or drafted by some other team ... but he still got to play in the NFL, even if it was the Raiders.

Huh? Oh .....

Damn, that sucks, and I feel so bad for the little kid left on the boat by himself for who knows how long.

I was thinking the same thing, whenever you hear news about an ex-cast member, it's never good news.

They called off the search again at 3pm PT

At this point, we have to presume she's gone. It's just a matter of locating her remains.

This is the last footage of her seen with her son prior to the boat leaving. She's pulls up in a black SUV at about 55 seconds.

I never watched Glee, so I looked her up on IMDb and was reminded that she was on three episodes of Family Matters. I remember her episodes.

Terrible news, since her kid was there too.
