Based on that movie thread, I guess it's only natural to do one here.

Okay, I'll start it off with probably the obvious choice for most here who know of this show:

2 completely unnecessary cast additions that ruined the tone of the show. A bad showrunner change as well who made the show more comedic and light. It completely ruined what they accomplished in the 1st season.

Every season of Prison Break after the 1st.

Every season of Family Guy after 3.

Every season of The Simpsons after 10.

The 5th season of The Wire. The first half of the 5th season of Breaking Bad.

I agree about Human Target season 2. I bought the first season on bluray, which for me, has a lot of replay value. Didn’t bother getting season 2.

Even though I love 24, I really disliked 24 Legacy. I don’t plan on ever getting that on DVD, despite getting all the original 24 seasons on DVD/BD. Legacy had a lazy plot and characters. Middle Eastern terrorists, again? Really? Couldn’t have thought of something more creative?

Season 2 was never released on physical media. That's how much the studio loved it. :lol:

It's one of my favorite shows of all-time, but this one was a complete train wreck. Also ruined because the season was cut short because of the writer's strike that year.

When it got sold to DirecTV and they cut down the final 3 seasons to only 13 episodes each, it also improved immensely creatively.

That was the first show that I thought of. Season 2 was awful. I skip it when I rewatch the show.

Arrested Development- seasons four and five. While they had their moments the show was never quite the same after its revival.

Dexter- season four and beyond. Good show for those first four seasons. Season three was a bit rocky compared with the first two, but it was still watchable enough and four made up for it. Everything after was a steady decline though.

Star Trek: Picard- a show I was really anticipating, but ultimately wound up being a big disappointment.

The last season of Roseanne (not the revival season, which I haven't seen ... the one where they won the lottery).

Heroes 2 and on. Probably include the finale of season 1 in there.

I think it suffered largely from the same fate as Friday Night Lights season 2: that writers strike did a number on a lot of series.

I haven't gone back and watched it but I think Parks and Rec season 1 was largely forgettable. then they replaced Blandanowicz with Rob Lowe and Adam Scott and turned Chris Pratt from a despicable lazy human being into an idiot and it all worked out. Similar with the Office (US) season 1 where they were basically just doing remakes of the British office.

Yeah. I forgot when I stopped watching. I'm getting the same way with Blackish. Will probably dump it after this season ends.

Boardwalk Empire season 5. That deserves a complete re-do.

Yeah, S1 of Parks and Rec was a little annoying and the characters just weren't right. They were finding their footing in the short 6 episode season.
Leslie was a moron who worshiped Bandanowicz, Andy was a lazy a-hole, Jerry wasn't a sad excuse who everyone picked on and Ron was a regular government guy wearing a suit and using a Blackberry (plot hole a few seasons later when Ron gets his first cell phone).

S2 Leslie was quirky and a little zany, but had a good head on her shoulders, Andy got really dumb but was a lovable guy and Ron hated government and technology. Then it got even better when Andy and Chris showed up.

Sleepy Hollow. First season was excellent then it just went to shit from there.

The Office: S8 & 9 - True, it started a slow descent after season 3, but Steve Carell's departure was the fatal blow.
CSI - the post-William Petersen seasons - I just don't think the writers knew what to do with Laurence Fishburne's character, and none of the others were strong enough to help drive the show.
24: S6 - just lazy
Dexter: S6 and 8 - bad and half-assed, respectively

I felt that way too about CSI after Petersen and Gary Dourdan left in the early part of season 9. The neverending cast changes afterward didn't seem to maintain any momentum.


I also felt this way about Criminal Minds after Mandy Patinkin left at the beginning of season 3. Other than Dr Reid, most of the other characters seemed kinda secondary and were not really fleshed out at the time. So I ended up dropping Criminal Minds sometime in the middle of season 3. (ie. Too many episodes piling up on the dvr, which ended up eventually being deleted unwatched).

It was't until years later when I watched the syndicated Criminal Minds reruns on aetv, that I realized the other characters became more fleshed out and were much more interesting after season 3. I started watching first-run episodes again, until the very end.
