I was hoping the twist would have been a positive spin. Building LEGO is time consuming. Changing course isn't going to go well. "You four teams' builds aren't going well, so here's an extra 90 minutes over the top four teams."

Anybody catch the scenes for next week? Oh geezus... I wish they wouldn't have given away the team that trashed their work while walking it to the finish line.

There goes my only reason for watching.

I wonder if the second part of the challenge was planned all along or if it was a spur of the moment audible to help the two cats who had the mishap.

I'm putting money on an audible.

Man...I am surprised at all the bitching and complaints about this show. I have been watching it with my son who is now almost 16 and used to be Lego crazy. He quit building and buying years ago but it has been enjoyable seeing what the builders have come up with.

The host is funny and makes a lot of fun of the standard cliches and rules that all these kinds of shows follow. This is basically Face-Off with Legos which I am fine with.

My biggest disagreement was keeping those two cosplay chicks around for as long as they did. They should have gone on the elimination where they were on the bottom and built the indiscernible dragon model.

Otherwise, this has been a fun show and it is interesting to see such passion on Lego building from adults. The young married couple is my favorite to win as they both show excellent creativity and skill each week.

Couldn't agree with you more. The show is light, fun and idiot-drama free for a "reality" show. Keeping around the cosplay girls to see some tits? Internet much?

I do wish they had a higher quality level of builders. I think there are about 3 teams who really get it and are creative... the rest are just space fillers.

Yeah it's really only the married couple and the two gold brick guys...and yeah they were totally saved by an audible. I'd probably toss in the lumberjack guys for a top 3. They have great concepts. The food truck tower was fantastic, but having killer hot dogs just put it over the top.

Moving the builds around is absurd, especially when they're that large. I'm betting the show runners realized that in the midst of their disaster and decided to step in and not lose one of the two best teams.

I would buy the Killer Hot Dogs if they released them :)

Re: Lego Masters

Top four teams, IMHO:

- The husband and wife
- The older gay couple
- The bearded dudes
- The two young white dudes

I agree the cosplay chicks came up with some bad builds in several of the episodes. Apparently, multicolored hair wasn't enough to protect them forever.

Pretty clear to me several teams were included to hit target demographics, regardless of their prior skill level. There are two or three teams way ahead of everyone else.

I was actually surprised that the first build on the first show heavily incorporated electronics, because it really highlighted who the frontrunners were, but I guess because nobody was eliminated anyway and they wanted to start with a bang, they did that.

This challenge would have been the perfect opportunity to really mix things up. They should have had a different team come up with the concept/build on another team's city.

As a Lego purist I'm glad that a good old-fashioned brick built bridge held its own against the upstart Technic stuff.

bridge challenge was another one from Lego masters australia

I enjoyed the bridge and car challenges a lot.

Michael Corvin 03-16-20 06:40 PM

Re: Lego Masters

Yeah, the bridge episode was fantastic. They weren't the prettiest or most creative builds the teams have done but it was enthralling. The fact the traditional LEGO bridge hit 1000lbs was amazing. That couple had some serious building chops on that one.

Also, I always thought Technic was prounounced Tecnique as in building special techniques. I guess it's short for 'technical?' I had no idea.

Reality show producers now have psychological profilers on staff when choosing cast members - they always go for overly emotional participants prone to being manipulated. Makes for better television.

Re: Lego Masters

The dialog between Will and whoever the guest for the week is always feels scripted and rehearsed. And Terry Crews flexing his pecs over and over got old real fast. I wish the contestants were challenged to build great looking models with the models changing each week rather than being tasked with making models that hold up under tremendous weight or break apart in an interesting way. And why is it so important each model tells a story?? The judges make that criticism almost every week. I'll stick with this season to see who wins, but I doubt I'll watch a second season (if there is one).
