Not seeing his face made him otherworldly and a mystery. I thought it was a good choice.

A season set in the 1930s and 1940s that revolved around the Minutemen. A season set in the 1960s/1970s with Crimebusters.

Because that's "what happens." That's why they use the earlier example of the fight with Angela... why did he let it happen? Everything he experiences has an inevitability and whether it's due to a lack of imagination or something else, he is basically just going through the motions of what he already knows will happen.

I think it is a mistake to think he allowed it to happen. Dr. M said he couldn't stop what will happen. Whatever this reason is can't be explained to humans. It would be like trying to explain long division to a ant. if he could stop it he would but he can't. The why doesn't really matter.

Yeah all the time stuff is a doozy. Like, why did he even approach Angela in the bar? Because he knew he would fall in love with her 10+ years in the future when she fought on his behalf (so he knew he had to have a relationship with her). Which never would have happened if he hadn't sought her out in the bar (not an accidental encounter). chicken and egg, as they said. The show is handling it well, i think... but just can;t think too hard about it.

I think the the "God" label both humans in the comic and we the human readers have given to DocM messes with our expectations due to our perceptions of what a "God" is...

I kinda wish they’d explore that a bit more, i.e. free will vs. predestination. I want to see the consequences of Dr. M actively going against what he “knows” will happen.

Well in case you wanna know what happened to Agent Petey...

Anyway, I think they stuck the landing for the most part, but I will easily say that the trip was far more fun than the destination.

I did love the plans-within-plans going on here:

1. Cyclops was using both Seventh Kavalry and the Police to eventually capture Doctor Manhattan
2. Lady Trieu was using Cyclops so that she could capture Manhattan without him knowing about her plan
3. Dr. Manhattan and Will Reeves were using Lady Trieu to stop her plan

Welp, I guess Adrian was in the statue. I was wrong on that one

Fantastic finale to a fantastic season. And there’s enough for a season 2 but it’s perfect like this too. Bravo to all involved.

Hated the end.

as soon as it was getting to the last scene when they started talking about the egg I knew exactly the last shot would be.
Hated it.

I'd have preferred that it end with her stepping out, then immediately falling into the water.

They could still start Season 2 like that if they do another season. Dr. M said it was important she see him walking on water. If she can't, she'll know he's still out there somewhere.

Falling through the water could also mean he never actually transferred anything into the egg (and he's really gone for good)

I didn't hate it, but I knew what the last shot was going to be. I think anyone who's watched this type of show did. I was kind of hoping they'd subvert it in some way.

The thought of her stepping on the pool surface, plummeting in while screaming "Aww CHRIST!", and an immediate cut to black? God I would have loved that

I thought it would be funny if she did fall in the water, and was laughing to herself at the thought that he did it as a joke.

Meh, sometimes the expected ending is the right one. I think that is the case here. Seems to have been a huge hit for HBO with viewership rising in each episode, will be really difficult for them not to do a season 2, though it will be difficult to capture the same magic.

Great use of a closing song.

"I am the Egg Man", indeed
