Re: The Flash (CW) -- Season 6 Thread -- Premieres 10/8/19
I think it's a result of keeping most of the cast after last season. Producers have to save money somewhere with a bloated cast for a show in its sixth season.

Gustin said they were starting conversations about an 8th and 9th season before the pandemic started:

I don't think I can make it that long. These days each episode I watch feels like it might be the last.

I've been fairly critical of the show the last couple of seasons. However, I am enjoying--mostly--the current "mirror" story line. I wish they hadn't brought Mohinder back into the picture, but I'm still intrigued about how this will all play out.
I was glad that they had Barry actually figuring out that "Iris" isn't Iris. He acts about as bright as Forrest Gump most of the time, so having him realize his wife is an impostor brings him back up to at least average intelligence.

I assume they'll somehow restart the Speed Force before the end of the season. At least now he has a valid reason for losing fights, whereas before they had to come up with increasingly dumb reasons for failure as they powered him up. The Flash is Superman-level overpowered and he should never really lose against the villains he usually fights.

Dislike the mirror storyline but the T2+mirrors vs. the not-so-Flash fight scene was pretty cool on a TV show budget ...

You'd think when Nash is just hanging out in the lab sometimes he might take off his bandolier and maybe wash his face, too. He always looks like he just crawled through some rubble.
During a certain (telegraphed) revelation from Hartley, I couldn't help but think of this:
But no answer in this episode to the question we've all been asking: "What is Chester P. Runk doing these days?"

The rumor is that the CW has renewed most shows on the network for two more seasons, including all existing Arrowverse shows.
The Flash still gets the CW's highest ratings.

This has been a terrible season.
At least since Crisis anyway.
Almost an entire season of the Flash not having powers and the focus being on Mirror Iris.

I just finished the season on Netflix. I had 4 left to watch and saw they were posted there a week or so again, so I powered through them on there.
Overall, not unwatchable or outright terrible, but disappointing. This was Eric Wallace's 1st time as a TV showrunner and I think his lack of experience showed. Also, after Crisis the episodes did get kind of tedious to watch. The mirror arc kind of dragged. Not the most compelling villain, but I was glad that Barry finally figured out that something was off with Iris.
And it was so obvious they were trying to conceal Danielle Panabaker's pregnancy. I mean just having her rest and chill on a couch for pretty much the last 4 episodes. I know they didn't want to write that in considering Caitlin is single, but that whole thing just felt off.
On the other hand, the final episode (19), did have a cliffhanger-ish ending, so it did work as a season finale and not just some random episode that just ends.

Had 4 episodes pile up... then realized I didn't give a shit about actually watching them. So I officially dropped the show. That means I've now got no Arrowverse shows still on my watch list except for Black Lightning... and well that'll be walking a tight rope next season perhaps.

Hartley Sawyer (Ralph Dibny) fired:

Apparently he made some derogatory remarks on social media in the past and they resurfaced. Sounds like a James Gunn situation.

Lesson to be learned. If you're someone in entertainment and in between jobs, don't fucking tweet about everything that comes to your mind.

Firing him for old tweets that were presumably just really bad/inappropriate jokes feels like an overreaction, but it's a sensitive time.
It will be weird when they pick up next year because they didn't actually finish the season. I suppose he and Sue Dearborn will have "left town".

Don't post shit on social media you wouldn't say to your grandmother, I always say. I have to admit I finally gave up on regularly watching the show this season as well, so no big loss IMHO.
