Bluff City Law (NBC)

They promoted the crap out of this during AGT and Ninja, so had to give it a shot.

Dind't hate it, ratings were just ok, could be cancelled, but I'll give it a few eps.

Coming from a famous Memphis family known for taking on injustice, brilliant lawyer Sydney Strait worked at her legendary father Elijah's celebrated law firm until their tumultuous relationship got in the way. After barely speaking to her father for years, Sydney is suddenly thrust back into the family fold when her philanthropist mother passes away unexpectedly. In the wake of this loss, Elijah asks Sydney to rejoin his firm, hoping to reconnect with the daughter he loves. She agrees because despite her lingering resentment and distrust, she knows that working alongside her father is her best hope at changing the world.

We're overloading on attorney shows. It was ok, nothing really outstanding.

I passed. If they were going to use Jimmy Smits, they might as well have just resurrected L.A. Law. Hell, nearly everything else has been rebooted or revived.

They tried and failed to do that three years ago.

The Idealism and the Daddy-Daughter issues were so heavy-handed in the promotions that it was a huge turn-off for me.

That's what I originally thought this was when the previews first came out.

It would have fit in with the trailer montage at the beginning of Tropic Thunder

First episode was good enough to keep me watching for now. I like McGee but Smits is so familiar he’s almost a distraction.

Unofficially cancelled: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/li...-order-1248684

No more episodes will be ordered after 10 episodes wrap production.

The show is shot on location in Memphis and according to this article, this may hurt the local economy. They had to pay a bunch of tax credits to NBC to film it there.

Re: Bluff City Law (NBC)

Have there been studies on what the upside to city's giving these productions tax credits?

Anyway, not surprised, looked like every other legal drama.

It's a gamble. Memphis was hoping that paying those credits would reduce the production cost for the show, which would allow NBC to film there for years to come and bring in jobs and money into the local economy.

But, it sometimes doesn't work in their favor.

This is what NBC received from Memphis

NBC received a $4.24 million incentive package, including $2.5 million from Tennessee, $1.4 million from Memphis and Shelby County, and $350,000 from Memphis Tourism.
This is all tax payer and city money, so yeah that's a huge bill to bring in filming to the local economy.

Re: Bluff City Law (NBC)

I watched all 10 episodes and thought it was fine, and McGee is cute. Nothing special, though.

Re: Bluff City Law (NBC)

I saw they advertised it as the season finale next week so maybe there is hope

It seems like a show that would fit in the CBS demographic.
