The Walking Dead (S9E09) -- "Adaptation" -- 2/10/19
On the mid-season premiere, "Adaptation," the communities thought they could build a better future separately, but the recent loss of one of their own drives them to band together. When new leaders rise a disturbing and dangerous threat is unmasked, while an escaped captive revisits his past. The episode is written by Corey Reed and directed by Greg Nicotero.

best episode in maybe 5 seasons.
whisperers are creepy.
Reedus is no longer fat.
I like gay guy with robo arm, and the bug eyed fat comic relief guy.
I love that they toned down Negan. I don't think they can ever redeem him and make you ever root for him, but tonight's episode was a huge step in the right direction.

Everything about Judith is nonsense.
Tara is now running Hilltop. Fricking Tara.
Eugene is in love with a nympho who will sleep with anyone except him.

I've heard many reference Whisperers on this forum, but had no idea what they were until they were revealed last episode. It's a cool idea and they definitely are pretty creepy.
So about 8-9 years into the ZA, and there are still some clothes on the racks in a clothing store? One of the many communities would've cleaned it all out early into the ZA.
Daryl tells chickie to drop the knife, but no one frisks her afterwards? Nice security procedures there.
A love triangle (or rectangle) with a pregnancy - where'd I see that before? Why make this a soap opera - can't find something else for them to do?

I caught up on the last 3 episodes from the last half-season and tonight's premier... one thing that sticks out to me as THE most ridiculous thing on this show (and there are many things) is the pinpoint accuracy the newbies have with their goddam sling shots. It was hard enough to believe you could nail a moving target with a pistol from 25 or 50 yards... but now they can with sling shots.

The fact that Saddiq is the father of hot Rosita's child means he is toast. Can't have any actual normal families on this show.
I watch this show out of habit now. They could kill off any of the characters on the show and I wouldn't care anymore.

Wait, that was Rosita who got pregnant by the doctor? I thought it was Enid for some reason.

I think this has been the best season in years. It still needs to end but I really like what's going on now. Poor Eugene, forever in the friendzone haha.

Sorry, but any creepiness that the whisperers may have brought to the table is quickly dissipating. They're just another bunch of psychotic assholes with a cult leader "mother" at the helm. All we need next week is for Rick to come back so next week he can stand on the fence at Hilltop and shout. "It doesn't have to be this way. We can TALK IT OVER!".

Was ABC trolling TWD fans by showing a commercial for Maggie's new show, or just hoping TWD fans will follow her to the new show?

I had no intention of watching her new show, but if I did - CTV's (Toronto) constant barrage of commercials for it would've killed my interest anyway. I'm already bored of the show and I haven't seen anything but commercials.

when JDM appeared back on Supernatural's 300th (!) episode, they showed a commercial for TWD. everyone just scratching everyone elses back.

Yeah, but JDM didn't leave TWD to do a spot on Supernatural, and a lot of viewers probably wouldn't care if he did. I can guess that seeing the an ad for the show that "stole Maggie away" from TWD might have pissed off a few viewers.

The "Whispers" are the dumbest villains this show ever has had...I didn't care for much of this episode. Negan taking his little memory lane trip was laughable. But I continue to watch. It will be interesting how they try to develop the new characters which at this point I don't care about.
I wonder how they will try to tie in the movies that are in the works. Sounds like Danai Gurira is done after this season as well and will join Rick in the movies.

You bring up an interesting point d2cheer ... we know the show is moving on from the “original” cast. Are the “second string” characters salvageable, or do they need to bring in an entirely new “starting lineup”?
