The post-draft scraps are always too young or too old. I went with Lauren because at least she’s 21.

The draft stays open until Navinabob or cusm makes a pick.

That said, the new “Edge of Extinction” gimmick means there was no elimination tonight.

Keith. And dammit, I always forget about the draft as soon as I get home.

I wonder if it's going to be more like Redemption Island, where players are knocked off each week after they get to the island, or more like that twist in Pearl Islands where a bunch of eliminated tribe members -- who are just stewing on the Edge of Extinction indefinitely -- would be brought back en masse for another challenge that gets 'em back in the game.

i think it’s going to be something like redemption island, but whatever it is, for now it adds some suspense to the season and I’m all for that.

That's ok, the Quack pick usually can work wonders!

Gotta say, that opener was less than stellar or exciting. I feel Survivor burnout creeping in.

What we're hearing is that there will be two contests with two chances to return, -one at the merge and one closer to the end. Other than that, they'll supposedly be left to their own devices with little or no direction.

To be honest, I feel something similar to that every time there's an obvious, somewhat abrasive person voted off in the first episode.

I liked some of the new characters, but it's not exactly an exciting group of all-stars and there are a number of duds with the newbies. Something tells me it's going to be the kind of season that'll take about 1/3 of the episodes -- perhaps all the way to merge -- to get genuinely interesting, if it does at all.

Ah, so yeah, like Damfino said, I guess it will be like a harsher version of Redemption Island. That's what I assumed, but the design of Edge of Extinction seemed like it could lean toward that Outcasts type of twist, if they keep amassing and left alone to get more and more bitter.

So...adding some icons to indicate what's going on. No one's out yet!

They didn’t reveal Keith’s decision, so I guess you’re in limbo until next week.

Re: The DVDTalk Survivor Game Spring 2019 Edition - Edge Of Extinction

I don't like the Extinction thing. What - is everyone going to be in it until the final few weeks?

My guess is Probst and the other producers will drop this next season. All the fun is taken out of being voted out if you (the viewer if not the player) know they still have a shot.

I like the Edge of Extinction gimmick because we’re a month into the season and nobody’s been eliminated yet.

Based on previews...

Spoiler:
We will finally have a resolution of sorts to the Edge of Extinction next week which could mean a mass elimination for our game

Re: The DVDTalk Survivor Game Spring 2019 Edition - Edge Of Extinction

OK, so now we know how this is going to work. Two players raised the white flag tonight.

Sorry Navinabob thanks for playing.

Sorry Gryffinmaster, but at least you still have Aubry who is also on the edge of extinction.

Re: The DVDTalk Survivor Game Spring 2019 Edition - Edge Of Extinction

I'm glad Aubrey has another shot. She's a "player."

At some point they'll have to eliminate all the losers in a challenge though, no? But it looks like the jury could be much bigger than in prior seasons - unless they'll be kicking people off the jury...I guess you'll get kicked off if you decide to leave the game?

Re: The DVDTalk Survivor Game Spring 2019 Edition - Edge Of Extinction

I feel like Aubrey is somebody who thinks she's a lot better at Survivor than she really is... she has experience so she thinks that makes up for her poor social game or inability to win a challenge

Re: The DVDTalk Survivor Game Spring 2019 Edition - Edge Of Extinction

Hey guys! I'm behind on this season, but just wanted to post that we're still looking for players for our Amazing Race game if you're interested. The new season starts on Wednesday. It kind of snuck up on us. CBS moved the premiere up after they cancelled Million Dollar Mile. We have a thread up for it if you're interested. I was able to post this and successfully not look at any of the other posts in this thread to spoil Survivor. Whew!

Re: The DVDTalk Survivor Game Spring 2019 Edition - Edge Of Extinction

This season's a bit hard to do a graphic for because no one's actually out until they raise the white flag, so for now...

Re: The DVDTalk Survivor Game Spring 2019 Edition - Edge Of Extinction

Thought I’d give this thread a bump.

We’ve still only had 2 eliminations this season. I have to wonder how long they’re going to drag this out.

Well, next week is the season finale and we’ve still only had 2 eliminations. I think this has been good for our game, not sure about the show.
