They are the new Strokes and nobody will remember them in a few years

But they never become the band that would change the face of rock music.

It’s weird, but not surprising, that rock fans will bemoan the genre’s waning popularity, but when retro-styled rawk acts like Wolfmother, Jet, or Greta show up they tend to hate on them despite being, on paper, the kind of new bands they should like.
I get the desire to want something completely new that is still within your established comfort zone, but it’s quite a tightrope to walk.
These kinds of retro-styled bands seem to be aimed mostly at younger people who weren’t around in the 70s or 80s, but hold a certain degree of affection for the music of that period, and want their own bands mimicing the style. Keep it going long enough, and maybe they’ll develop their own unique style that gives rawk a shot in the arm.

Halsey is better than Greta Van Fleet and I am not being sarcastic.

I like GVF music just fine, but the performances on SNL weren't too engaging. The guitarist and bassist were active, but The lead singer needs to do more... He kind of just looked like he was up there singing karaoke. Standing basically in one spot, looking straight ahead, Microphone in one hand...
For second performance, he had a mic stand, so i get standing in one place, but he was just so rigid. Move your body a bit, man! Basically zero stage presence.
