If you can find them, check out his appearances on Letterman. He was brilliant. He would go on and (very seriously) read some terribly lousy poetry, causing Dave and the audience to laugh, and he would just GLARE ANGRILY at Dave, without saying a word, without ever losing character.
Magnificent.
Magnificent.

While I've watched CYE several times, I'll always remember Bob as Super Dave. The sketches played a lot between movies during early-mid 90's on Showtime. I have fond memories of catching them when I was 10-or-so years old.

Some of my favorite recurring bits on Bizarre were the "Byner originals", in which host John Byner would blatantly steal a music or comedy act from another show or artist and put his own humourous spin on it. This would almost always prompt Einstein-as-producer to walk on stage and shut down the sketch out of respect for the original creators, or to prevent the show getting sued. It was all an act, of course, as it prompted a new back-and-forth routine in which Byner would take shots at "serious" Bob. This sketch, however, was one of the few times where Einstein visibly started to crack on camera, and it still revisit it fairly regularly (especially since I uploaded it in the first place!):

And for good measure, here's his famous stunt with Billy Martin:

I used to have a great sketch uploaded where Byner played Michael Jackson (rather well!) doing "Beat It" and Einstein came out to stop it, but that got pulled years ago because of the song. Same went for the sketch of Super Dave singing Dolly Parton's 9 to 5 and pretending to play the piano after the crew couldn't find a way to get it in the studio. Thankfully the payoff is still up there:

This one hit me hard. I loved Super Dave(he was the closest I ever came to sending a celebrity fan mail) and I always enjoyed watching him on Letterman(you can see how Dave would light up when he was on). I was happily surprised to see him show up on Curb as well. He might be one of the most underrated people in terms of how much he was able to make you laugh at just about anything. I have been watching old Super Dave stunts on YT and I will be damned if they don't still make me laugh. A true comedy icon that will dearly be missed. RIP Super.

very sad. I first knew of him through Curb Your Enthusiasm and thought he was hilarious on there. I had no idea he was ill. Just the other day i went on a Super Dave binge on youtube, I listened to him on Gilbert Gotfrieds Podcast and on Norm's podcast. RIP.
