Your Top 10 of 2018

We've done this the past few years. Applies to shows that aired across all platforms (network, cable, streaming, etc.). My list is never completely accurate since there are typically a number of shows I have not yet watched and need to catch up on -- this year is no different.

Edit: This should be final or at least near final.

1. Atlanta (FX)
2. The Americans (FX)
3. Cobra Kai (YT Red)
4. Better Call Saul (AMC)
5. American Crime Story: Versace (FX)
6. Mr. Inbetween (FX)
7. Brooklyn 99 (FOX)
8. 9-1-1 (FOX)
9. Lodge 49 (AMC)
10. Pose (FX)
11. Honorable mention: Mayans MC (FX) - not nearly as bad as expected though expectations were low

Show from last year that did not make the cut this year: Animal Kingdom (TNT)

Have not yet watched a number of shows including: Barry, The Deuce, The Terror, Narcos, Killing Eve, Homecoming, Crashing, Sharp Objects, Narcos, Succession, Ray Donovan, Deep State, Berlin Station, Counterpart

Re: Your Top 10 of 2018

The Americans gets the top spot for me for its consistent excellent work... Put 20 in there that I enjoyed a lot this year.. I watched a good amount of stuff, but I think these shows stood out for me over the past year...

1 The Americans -FX, a great run with terrific acting
2 Bosch - Amazon - love just about everything in this show
3 The Kids are Alright - ABC - my favorite new comedy, comedy is hard, this is a good show
4 Cobra Kai - YoutTube - A blast
5 Bodyguard - Netflix - found this to be pretty riveting
6 The Detectorists - Acorn - A beautiful little gem wrapped up in a nice bow this year...
7 Better Call Saul - AMC - always a treat
8 GLOW - Netflix - A fun show
9 Escape At Dannemora - Showtime - Great Job by Ben Stiller and the acting is superb
10 Mrs. Maisel - Amazon - Great show all around, acting, dialogue, set design
11 Homecoming - Amazon - Thought provoking, cool 30MIN! drama
12 Crashing - HBO - Solid Dramedy, better season than the first
13 Kidding - Showtime - Finally caught up to this dark comedy, another well acted show, Jim C letting it rip..
14 FBI - CBS - Never let an ep sit on the DVR, so that means its a solid watch in my book
15 This is Us - NBC - Not the best season, but still a show I enjoy with my wife
16 Atypical - Netflix - A solid show, I like how they integrate the topic of Autism seamlessly
17 Westworld - HBO - Continues to be thought provoking if not a bit maddening
18 Barry - HBO - Pleasant Surprise, Hader did a great job with this
19 Ozark -Netflix - The feel good show of the season! lol
20 The Good Doctor - Another show I like with my wife, good cast, interesting storylines...

I'm giving Yellowstone a shout-out since I see it hasn't made anyone's list yet.

I was hoping someone would mention this oddball dark comedy. Hader and Winkler are fantastic in it. I usually don't find these HBO dramedies that compelling, but Barry had me hooked from the first episode.

I just haven't watched enough of this year's output to make a fair list. I still haven't gotten around to watching the final season of The Americans or the latest Game of Thrones.

I wonder if anyone will include the Paramount shows like Yellowstone or Waco?

Re: Your Top 10 of 2018

1. Jack Ryan - season 1 (Amazon)
2. Titans - season 1 (DC Universe) -- Awesome dark and gritty take on the DC superhero lore.
3. Cobra Kai - season 1 (YouTube)
4. Better Call Saul - season 4 (AMC)
5. This is Us - season 2 (NBC)
6. God Friended Me - season 1 (CBS) -- So far, just premiered this season. This has been a delightful new show.
7. Mayans MC - season 1 (FX) - A really underrated show. I don't get why this forum just tuned out on this. I guess the hate for Kurt Sutter and how Sons of Anarchy ended soured many here on it.
8. Yellowstone - season 1 (Paramount) - A pretty fun and grand Western soap opera. Costner is good and low key as the lead. Some of the supporting characters aren't really likable, but that's just how this series is structured.
9. Dynasty (CW) - season 1 -- A really fun and wicked reboot of the original soap.
10. Star Trek: Discovery (CBS All-Access) - Season 1 - I know this show had a really limited audience here, but it was a solid new addition to the Star Trek franchise.

Honorable mentions: Timeless season 2, The Good Doctor season 1, 9-1-1 season 1

Agreed. I think you and I are the only ones that even mentioned it. I binged it after it aired and finished over the course of a 3-4 days. I had low expectations going in, but found it engaging enough to tune back for more. I felt the extended episodes didn't add any harm either.

Only made it to 8. Even though I saw more than 8, the others didn't warrant a spot.

4. Haunting of Hill House
5. Santa Clarita Diet
6. Travelers
6. Homecoming
7. Humans
8. It's Always Sunny

Thank you, sir.

I noticed there's a lot of love on this thread for Bosch, and rightfully so.
For those who do not know, Michael Connelly releases a new Bosch novel almost every fall.
Always find it under my Christmas tree...

Re: Your Top 10 of 2018

1. Killing Eve (BBC America) - Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, wow. absolute fun!
2. The Middle (ABC) - Sad to bid farewell to the Hecks. Good for Patricia Heaton to star in 2 series that ran 9 seasons. Both this + ELR classics in my book.
3. Outlander (STARZ)
4. Sharp Objects (HBO)
5. The Mick (Fox)
6. Corporate (Comedy Central)
7. Bob's Burgers (FOX)
8. Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath (A&E)
9. Winter Olympics/1968 Olympic Doc (NBC)
10. Angie Tribeca (TBS)

So much on my Tivo + missing out on series on streaming services.
