DC's Legends of Tomorrow (S4E06) -- "Tender is the Nate" -- 11/26/18

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 26

DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW

"Tender is the Nate" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, DL) (HDTV)

SHOCKED BUT NOT FORGOTTEN - When Hank Heywood (guest star Tom Wilson) confronts Ava (Jes Macallan) about the spending habits of the Legends, Nate (Nick Zano) steps in to try and smooth things over by inviting Hank on to the Waverider. The Legends then show Hank what they do by visiting 1920s Paris, trying to capture the newest Fugitive. Meanwhile, Mona (Ramona Young) is trying to make a good impression with Ava, but her over eagerness gets her and Ava stuck in a cell instead. Caity Lotz, Matt Ryan, Brandon Routh, Dominic Purcell, Tala Ashe and Maisie Richardson-Sellers also star. Dean Choe directed the episode written by Phil Klemmer & Matthew Maala wrote the episode (#406). Original airdate 11/26/2018.

Maybe the Legends can go back to where Snart died and Gary and Mona can take his place.

No more Nate? Not sure how they can avoid having him as a regular if they keep going back to the Time Bureau.

Decent episode. They still give Mick the best lines.

My biggest issue is that it feels like they are using the Time Bureau as a way to cut the budget. Basically, they go on half capers and the other half of the episode is stupid office shit. I'm not so down with that.

This was the goofiest episode yet, and I loved it.

Just so I understand, you are not counting the countless scenes within the multiple Arrow lairs, CatCo/DEO, and Star Labs as stupid office shit? Because I'm failing to understand the difference.

It's definitely a budget issue affecting the show. That was almost certainly an inside joke by the producers when they had the government guy start rattling off a list of expensive things on the show, and why were they necessary.

I'm guessing that signing Matt Ryan to the cast took a good chunk of the yearly Legends budget.

This was a fun episode with Hemingway and the creature. Nate and his father have been handled really well in this arc. I can only imagine how Supergirl's writers would have done that story arc.

Yeah but those have always been a part of the show. While we have seen the Time Bureau before, not to this extent. The show has always been about the ship and time travel. It just seems like filler with all this office nonsense.

But from what I have seen so far, the Time Bureau scenes haven't any different than scenes taking place in different rooms on the ship during prior seasons. Seems and odd distinction to make when the majority of all of these CW DC shows have has nothing to do with heroes actively fighting villains.

If anything I think it makes more sense given they have that portal device that lets people go instantly from one place to another. Far more should occur at the Time Bureau and far less on the ship. It's not like it takes days, or even hours, for them to get to their destination like it would on so many other ship based sci-fi shows.

Kind of disappointed Constantine doesn't really do anything.

I had a super strange coincidence with Hemingway. Right before watching this episode, I watched the newest episode of Rick Steves Europe (yeah, I know I'm cool) and when he was in Pamplona talking about the Running of the Bulls, he talked about Hemingway living there and becoming enamored with the event and the bullfighters.

So then we turn on Legends and the first thing Hemingway does is talk about the bullfighters!

Thomas Wilson has a fine singing voice. Who Knew? Not me.

I thought this was a fun episode. I enjoyed seeing Nate's Dad hang out with the Legends and then later become so mesmerized with Hemingway.

Through 6 episodes, I feel like Constantine has been a waste. I don't think the writers have given Matt Ryan much good material at all.

He sings in his stand-up comedy act.

Constantine is a dramatic character that works best in dark situation (and deflating it with a bit of cynical humor) and isn't suited to the current SitCom nature of the show. Glad to have him, but he's sort of here at the wrong time in the show's evolution.

Re: DC's Legends of Tomorrow (S4E06) -- "Tender is the Nate" -- 11/26/18

I think having a serious character like Constantine in this kind of goof-fest is perfect. The contrast with the seriousness of what he deals with and the silliness of everything else just adds to teh comedy. Also, it should be cool to see when the shit really hits the fan with him.

This isn't meant to be the definitive Constantine property, so it's not like he's being wasted here. They tried to do a solo Hellblazer show and it failed.

Constantine's solo show didn't work because the writing wasn't good. It was boring.

Oh, this show is a hoot. This episode was a good time, including Ava’s birthday in Nora’s cell. Plus, Sara’s birthday present was, uh, a plus.

I was certainly plussed. If they ever do put an end to LoT hopefully she will land back on one of the other shows.

I would rather see Ava in lawn-jer-ray instead of bony ass Sara.

Jes Macallan did an episode of Femme Fatales, which was one of the final Skinemax series.
