Narcos: Mexico will explore the origins of the modern drug war by going back to its roots, beginning at a time when the Mexican trafficking world was a loose and disorganized confederation of independent growers and dealers. Witness the rise of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s as Félix Gallardo (Diego Luna) takes the helm, unifying traffickers in order to build an empire. When DEA agent Kiki Camarena (Michael Peña) moves his wife and young son from California to Guadalajara to take on a new post, he quickly learns that his assignment will be more challenging than he ever could have imagined. As Kiki garners intelligence on Félix and becomes more entangled in his mission, a tragic chain of events unfold, affecting the drug trade and the war against it for years to come.

Finished this off today and it was awesome. Glad they're gonna keep it going with a followup season.
Episode 6 has a pretty spectacular cameo.

I still haven't finished up season 3. Does this tie in at all or is it stand-alone? Season 3 didn't do much for me so I may skip to 4 if there's nothing to miss.

I'm halfway through and i'm finding it a little... flat. I didn't expect another charismatic/bombastic Escobar but I also liked S3 better than this.

Finished this today. I thought it was very well done... maybe not as good as the other seasons/series - but it was close.
Diego Luna was fine, but it definitely lacked the screen presence of the guy who played Escobar.
Was also nice seeing some of the Colombian gang in this.
Episode 7 was pretty gruesome and the characters were especially cruel in different ways.
Isabella is fucking hot.
It was neat that they got Scoot McNairy to narrate, since he sounds like Holbrook - the narrator of S1 and S2 of the other series. It was cool how he goes from being a narrator to the lead in what I'm assuming will be the next season.

This was great. Nice surprises in the later episodes. Season 2 looks like it's going to be crazy.
I don't like the way it was filmed throughout - weird glare everywhere and I feel they could have captured the "look" of Mexico better but it was still just as good as the first trilogy.

Finished this last night. As good as the other seasons. Thought the cameos with Pablo/Medallin and the Cali cartels was really cool.
Diego Luna and Michael Pena were tremendous, both guys deserve some award recognition for their roles.

Enjoyed it, felt like a setup for more seasons. Luna of course wasn't anywhere as good as Wagner Moura (playing Pablo). the crossover episodes were a pleasant surprise... Looking forward to the nest season.

I started watching this and thought "there's a bit of a jump but maybe they wanted to move on from Gallardo to Guzman". Then I realized I'd just watched episode 10 instead of episode 1.

Ohhhhhh! ^
I just wrapped it up. Another great season. There's gotta be a season 3 of this storyline. Luna was great.
