Re: Legacies (CW) -- Vampire Diaries & Originals spinoff -- Premieres 10/25/18

Producer Julie Plec has done it again. I didn't want to get sucked into another long-running, serialized show about supernatural creatures when Legacies first premiered, and was looking for a reason to drop it. But they've found a real star in the young Danielle Rose, who can carry a show like Nina Dobrev and Sarah Michelle Gellar before her. She's already the best actress currently on the CW. Watch the latest episode if you doubt me.

The first few episodes are kind of clunky but they've already worked out many of the kinks by episode nine. The "teen" male lead is bland and forgettable, but he fills out the emo kid role well. The real male lead anyway is Alaric from the Vampire Diaries. In a smart move, they are already dropping screen time for lesser members of the cast.

If they can find the right villain, Legacies is all set up for a very long run.

That alternate fantasy world was pretty fun.

Weird and funny episode. Poor Unicorn used liked that

HOPE infected

Poor Alaric, relationship wise and what happened to him at the end.

They put Alaric in a love triangle. That's better than nothing.

So Landon is a...

Spoiler:
phoenix. Okay, whatever. For a moment I actually thought they had gone ahead and killed him off, which would have been delicious.

Interesting note, former Vampire Diaries' star Paul Wesley (Stefan) directed this episode and has been directing other episodes for various CW shows. He must have blown through all of his acting money.

Re: Legacies (CW) -- Vampire Diaries & Originals spinoff -- Premieres 10/25/18

Just watched the first two episodes of this series. I had a love/hate relationship with the Vampire Diaries and couldn't get into The Originals, but this one seems fresh and fun. If they can avoid killing and resurrecting every single character like TVD did, this could end up being my favorite of the franchise.

Uhhh, no. Actors getting directing gigs puts them into the DGA. That will allow Wesley to direct other TV projects, Pilots and even potentially a feature film. It just opens more opportunities for him.

It's an acknowledgement his acting career is all but over. A lot of former stars in his situation would coast on convention appearance fees and the like. The pay for directing network television episodes, even on the CW, is nothing to sneeze at.

Still the weakest between the three shows imo... but it's a decent watch each week.

We finally learned what Landon is though.

I only recently finished The Originals earlier this year and I believe it’s a better show than The Vampire Diaries.

Good ol' Julie Plec has already deconstructed and removed all the weaker elements imposed on Legacies by the CW executives. Her team's shows are always best in their 2nd and 3rd seasons, after cleaning house of what doesn't work.

Legacies (CW) -- Season 2 Thread -- Premieres 10/10/19

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10

SEASON PREMIERE

LEGACIES

"I'll Never Give Up Hope" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, LV) (HDTV)

A SUMMER WITHOUT HOPE - After discovering that there may be a way out of Malivore, Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) becomes more determined than ever to find her way back to Mystic Falls. Alaric (Matthew Davis), who is still reeling after being voted out as headmaster by the honor council, continues looking into the mysterious night Malivore was destroyed. Elsewhere, as the students leave for summer vacation, Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) stays behind to keep an eye on Rafael (Peyton Alex Smith), while MG (Quincy Fouse) heads to Atlanta to spend time with Kaleb's (guest star Chris Lee) family. Finally, while Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) spends the summer in Europe with Caroline, Josie (Kaylee Bryant) searches for answers about the mysterious ascendant that Alaric was keeping from them. Julie Plec directed the episode written by Brett Matthews & Julie Plec (#201). Original airdate 10/10/2019.

Netflix carries the entire 1st season if you're behind. It was only 16 episodes.

Re: Legacies (CW) -- Season 2 Thread -- Premieres 10/10/19

The first season is kind of a grind the first few episodes, but really finds its stride somewhere around the episodes made for sweeps. I found it better than any season of The Originals, if we are keeping track. Vampire Diaries showrunner Julie Plec does her very best keeping this show afloat.

Legacies S1 was pretty bad overall and easily the worst of any season between the three shows.
In any case, I still have hope for this show and Danielle Rose Russel is pretty.

Re: Legacies (CW) -- Season 2 Thread -- Premieres 10/10/19

I binged the final 7 episodes of season 1 over Friday and Saturday on Netflix and got caught up with season 2.

So, I'm now caught up with the new season. Interesting start. I kind of like how Hope was erased from everyone's memory after the sacrifice she made in the finale last season. And now she's kind of on her own and having to rebuild her relationships, including with Landon.

Really moving scene with her and Alaric after she revealed who she was and told him he was like her father. Danielle Rose Russell is probably the best actress among the cast.

and I guess Josie is Bi? In season 1, she was into girls and had a same sex relationship. This one she's now into Landon.

That action with that green troll was kind of funny. It had a very campy SyFy quality.

You can’t help but fell sorry for Hope. Between this show and her season on the Originals she can’t get a win. I believe Josie’s always been Bi. She had it out with Lizzie last season because Lizzie called dibs on Rafael.

Re: Legacies (CW) -- Season 2 Thread -- Premieres 10/10/19

Surprised no one mentioned they've added Wesley of Buffy/Angel fame to the show as a similar character to Wesley's early years on Buffy. Great seeing him back on television.

Not surprised they've essentially rebooted the entire scenario in season two. Rick is no longer headmaster of the vampire/magic school, they've broken up Hope and Landon, and Josie is being positioned as the show's romantic female lead. Showrunner Julie Plec is ruthless at changing up things that aren't working. It looks like she's eliminated all the network-mandated nonsense likely forced upon her in season one.

Renewed:

Season 2 has been pretty good so far. Just got caught up last week to the midseason finale. They finally got everything back to before prior to the memory wipe.

Nice, this show is one of the few shows remaining on the CW that delivers on a weekly basis.
