I lost a lot of enthusiasm for this show last season, thanks mostly to all the focus on the visions/dreams mumbo jumbo. Still, glad it’s back and hopefully they get back to what they do best: zombie strippers!

LOL, Z Nation is back and I am loving it. Warren has a new friend (maybe), Murphy's still a silly douche (but does an amusing Slim Pickens, if you get the reference), the zombies seem to be evolving, and the rest of the primaries are attempting to shepherd new members to Newmerica.

Definitely worth watching.

Agree, I really enjoyed the premier. The show is best when it is self aware and playful.

I hung with it last year thinking that it was the last season and they were wrapping it up. I was wrong, of course. Last night was less manic than it has been, so I'll probably stick around for now...

Great episode. I had no idea Mario Van Peebles was in the show.

I really like that they're shooting it like a cross between a western and a grindhouse flick.

Re: Z Nation (SyFy) -- Season 5 Thread -- premieres 10/5/18

I think I gave up on Season 3 and didn’t finish it.

Despite that, I started Season 4 ... and didn’t finish it.

I liked the early days of the show and I still like the concept ... they come up with some great ideas but then get too bogged down in their own bullshit.

Since it has been awhile, maybe I need to go back and try to catch up so I can move on to S5.

Well, I didn’t go back and catch up but I watched the first three episodes (including tonight’s) tonight. The first two episodes were OK, but tonight’s just kicked the shit out of The Walking Dead. Z Nation is back to having the balls to randomly kill main characters.

So ZN has changed it's format again, so that it can become an allegory for it's view of the Immigrant situation. The 11/26 episode felt like a condescending After School Special pretty much along the lines of "Supergirl"...

Yup. Terrible. The George character is blatant.

I'm rewatching Babylon 5- that's how you do political allegory, not this bullshit.

Ah fuck, they ruined the show. I'm halfway through and I can't watch any more. I'm done with the show for now. I'll keep monitoring this thread, if it gets any better I'll come back but for now I'm out.

Re: Z Nation (SyFy) -- Season 5 Thread -- premieres 10/5/18

Why can't people realize we watch shows to be entertained and escape from the problems of today's world. We don't want to be reminded of them. Besides being annoying, this only hurts the showrunner's pocketbooks.

Also, I get tired of of being preached to by actors, musical artists, etc. Can't even watch awards shows anymore. I don't know why entertainers think the audience cares what their politics are.

Best show ever! I recorded the entire series on VHS as it aired and those tapes got a lot of use. Have all the DVD sets. May take them out and give it another whirl. It will be bittersweet, though. So many of them have passed away and some at a young age.

After a fun first couple episodes this season has really gone into the crapper. It turned the moment the George character showed up. Everything having to do with that story-line is garbage, and to make it worse Citizen Z even showed back up. They can't move on from this fast enough.

Hell yes, Addy is back!

Last few episodes were a bit of a slow down again, but this recent one with Doc’s stoned history and the Canadian bizkit makers was a nice pick up.

Doc's stoned history was fun, and now we know the origin of The biscuits. Yes, I am a couple of weeks behind....

No worries, I’m just happy somebody else is posting!

I tend to fall a few weeks behind and then binge to catch up as well. Part of it is just being busy, the other part is being in the right mindset for the show.

Loved the stoned history ...

Loving this show...the season had a bit of a rough start but it picked up in quality right quick. Doc really is the best part of the show, and it still boggles my mind that we are almost done with season 5, talk about the little show that could.

And unfortunately, that's it. Cancelled. Although Netflix are doing a prequel.

I haven’t been that thrilled with the last two seasons but it would have been nice if they could have done a final season wrap-up. As it is, I’ve already forgotten what happened at the end of this past season mostly because their season long plots have been juvenile and nonsensical. I wish they hadn’t bothered with them.

Re: Z Nation (SyFy) -- Season 5 Thread -- premieres 10/5/18

I am saddened ... but shouldn’t be surprised considering the lack of conversation in here and the fact that the cancellation happened a month ago.

I always started out watching the beginning of every season, but I rarely made it to the end. I would let them build up on my DVR and watch a few at a time. The storylines were decent, but it seemed as they couldn’t sustain them over the season.

Z Nation was never going to be an award winning show, but it was entertaining and it knew what it was (an Asylum production). The later seasons got a little too zany, but they still had good threads woven through them. I also think they fell into the same trap The Walking Dead did ... it started as a potential anthology where any character could die at any moment, but then latched onto certain cast members that stuck around far too long. Unlike TWD, I never got sick of the Z-crew, but it became less a story about the world/mission than it did about artificially trying to convince you that the plot-armored character were in peril.

So it seems like Netflix is “dying” ... in addition to the previously announced Z-Nation prequel series, they announced plans for a Resident Evil series today.
