Re: Magnum PI (Moving to NBC) — Series Thread
The new opening is lifted straight from Burn Notice. But then I always felt Burn Notice mirrored the original Magnum P.I.

Re: Magnum PI (Moving to NBC) — Series Thread
Season 5’s 10 episodes just ended last week. TC got shot and was in the hospital recovering. Magnum and Higgins relationship was out to everyone a few weeks earlier. No cliffhanger, just a self contained season and ending.
Season 6 won’t be affected by the strike. I follow the writers on social media and they were shooting the seasons back to back. |

I was under the impression that this was the Spring finale. The show was picked up for two 10 episode seasons which were later combined into one 20 episode season.
Edit: I see youre right, instead of 2 seasons, its now just called season 5. |
Re: Magnum PI (Moving to NBC) — Series Thread
NBC announced their tentative Fall schedule last week and currently Magnum is not slated to return until midseason 2024. The last 10 episodes of season 5 are already filmed.
https://tvline.com/2023/05/14/magnum...5XyFTj6kYEooUk However, it the WGA runs long, it could move up to Fall. |
Re: Magnum PI (Moving to NBC) — Series Thread
Canceled again. The last half of season 5 (10 episodes) will be it for the show. The cast contracts are up next week and NBC didn't seem to want to order another season now with the WGA strike, so that's why they passed.

Re: Magnum PI (Moving to NBC) — Series Thread
I know this show was never popular here except for some passive interest from a few Hawai'i lovers. But, it did get better after the 1st season and became a guilty pleasure for me, especially seeing beautiful Hawai'i every week. The cast developed really good chemistry.

Now with this cancellation there will be no more shows filmed in the state of Hawai'i for the 1st time since 2010 if I'm not mistaken. The show wrapped filming this "Final" season last year.
isnt there a NCIS Hawaii? |

That sucks
I thought the Sun time slot would help and it isn't like the 3 letter networks have their best programs on Sundays anymore. |

Re: Magnum PI (Moving to NBC) — Series Thread
Sad to see it go... After duplicating a few episodes from the Tom Selleck run, it finally found its own voice and I was fine with the result. Aloha 'oe!

Re: Magnum PI (Moving to NBC) — Series Thread
Moved up from midseason 2024. The "final season" will premiere in October

Re: Magnum PI (Moving to NBC) — Series Thread
I just hope it has a series conclusion to say goodbye.

Re: Magnum PI (Moving to NBC) Series Thread
Not sure if it's in the new show or not, but thought I would share this :
My friend's dad was the unit production manager for Magnum PI in the 1980's. His dad gave him some old stuff this weekend, including this. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...1d61f9c7cd.jpg Apparently, the cast kept stealing them, so the prop department had replacements made, and my dad had an extra one made for him to keep... https://magnum-mania.com/Articles/The_Team_Ring.html |

Are the final 10 episodes a straight-through run?

Re: Magnum PI (Moving to NBC) — Series Thread
Comcast has season 5 on demand so I watched the first episode. Seems like a fun, breezy show with attractive leads. I wouldn’t mind watching here and there but probably won’t go back to the beginning,

Re: Magnum PI (Moving to NBC) — Series Thread
Well.. so long Magnum. I don't think that's a satisfying series ending, but it is what it is. I did like these characters and as I said before, they found a way to make their own show entertaining.
The state of Hawaii only has NCIS Hawaii now, right? |
