Word to the wise : Whatever you do, avoid the AMC app or website until after you watch this episode. Some big-time idiot is in charge apparently. Just like last week's episode "Pinata", they chose as their image for this episode an image that appears to be a HUGE spoiler, and one that explains the episode's title. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. They ruined Pinata's reveal last week and it sure looks like they spoiled this one as well.

What did they spoil last week?

This was the image they showed when you tried to select the episode on the app :

And trust me, this one is worse. And, even worse, it was posted on the app last week.

I don’t know if I would look at that image and think spoiler. What did they post this week?

Seemed like a typical boring couple to me, nothing bold or heartbreaking about it.
So, this episode time jumped 8 months since last week's episode?
Unless I missed something, the German said something like "it's been 8 months and we're not even halfway done."

Did they change the image? From what I'm seeing, I don't see a spoiler.

I have to say, that ending seemed very abrupt.

I think the heartbreaking part was how the couple was falling further and further away from each other. They were doing things together early on (ie. eating, brushing their teeth, etc) and then they were doing their daily routines separately with a split-screen diving the two - Kim in the office while Jimmy was selling phones, Kim sleeping while Jimmy's watching TV, and now brushing their teeth at different times, etc.
The key indicator of their separation from each other was when they were together in the same bed at the same time, yet the split-screen was still active - showing that even in the same room doing the same thing, they were no longer together.

I liked Kim's reaction to when she heard Jimmy's plan to set up the cop... and then later when she heard the prosecuting lawyers opinion of Jimmy - which she realises is actually an accurate assessment of him.

Huell is another example or problems with doing prequel type shows/movies using the same actors. It's not out of the realm for someone to be thinner when they're younger and gain a whopping amount of weight as the years go by - but Huell also looked much older, which really doesn't jive.

Still, great episode.

Do couples actually brush their teeth together like that at the same time? Seems like a TV cliche to me.

Yes, they did. Since this morning it's been changed. The previous image showed Jimmy and Kim standing together in formal attire in front of a man. I suppose it could have been from the party scene in this episode but it sure looked like
Spoiler:
they were getting married
.

I don’t think either of those are a spoiler.

Anyway what do you guys think of Kim’s plan with all the markers and things she bought at Staples.

I'm assuming this picture? I saw it in the morning and didn't think anything of it. I guess your desire for them to get hitched is working on overdrive! I was worried you really got spoiled. Your description was so dire like they showed a pic of Jesse or something.

I liked the opening montage. Visually well-done and conveyed the sense of time passing (which the show does well) - just didn't know it was 8 months of time. I'm glad they're spending time on the super lab construction. That's probably something I thought about the least on BB, but now that they're investing time on it could become intriguing. No clue where Kim's plan is going with the art supplies.

I think she should've called Jimmy to hold off on whatever he was doing BEFORE she went on her shopping spree instead of after - just in case he set the wheels in motion already.

I thought it did a nice job of showing the slow day-to-day disintegration of a relationship, -their growing apart, -as opposed to some big dramatic scene that would be hard to come back from (which is more typical of Television Drama). It was sad to watch because I like these people, and I like them together, and, frankly, the scene felt achingly familiar.

They actually showed the dates go by on Jimmy's parole drug tests. I didn't catch the earliest ones but at the end we were in Jan, 2004.

Fair enough. I thought it was a quickie wedding picture which would have been a big spoiler. That Piñata one last week really pissed me off since it was a big staged reveal and it was totally spoiled for me or anyone else watching the show on their app.

Agree to disagree. Knowing what the Piñata treatment was and who was getting it before the scene began kind of ruined it for me.
My guess about the Staples purchase is that Kim will organize a protest (with people holding signs) and bring the story to a news reporter to put pressure on the DA to give Hewell a light sentence.

I really don't think they are growing apart, or their relationship is falling apart.

1) The opening montage was used to show the passing of time - Daily tasks we do every day, how Kim is doing the legal work for the bank expansion, how Jimmy is selling his phones, going to his parole hearings, bla bla bla..

2) They both have a passion for criminal defense - Kim helps those caught in the system, and Jimmy was a public defender. If anything - this "project" is going to bring them closer together

3) Jimmy still wants to be partners with Kim, and they show him looking at an office space with Kim in mind ---- Possibly a criminal defense practice??

4) I don't think that Kim sees him as a "low life" or a "loser" - she is protective of him and knows what a shitty life he has had living under the thumb of his brother, and what he could have been had his brother not stifled his career. So if anything - this motivates and pushes her to find 'creative' solutions.

Really? That seemed pretty unequivocal to me. I liked it last night when Jimmy said "That was three years ago. Maybe you're thinking of a different guy" and the cop looks at Hewell and replies "Really?"
Then again my wife didn't remember who he was when he showed up in Piñata, to my astonishment

I definitely felt the opening showed them growing apart. They pretty much hit you over the head with it.

The vertical line splitting the screen was a thematic choice showing the division between the two. I don't think Kim sees Jimmy as a lowlife, but I think she's becoming more aware of how others see him, and she's becoming uncomfortable with it. Often with couples, a thing you might have enjoyed about someone becomes the thing you cringe about.

Jimmy and Kim were a weird couple anyways. Fairly realistic, but they were more together out of circumstance and proximity than anything else. Ultimately, they should've been good friends rather than half-assed lovers.

I agree with this - Kim was visibly PISSED at the lawyer when she called Jimmy a low-life, when she knows him so much better and understands exactly why he's where he's at. It's like after that, it became personal to her.

the opening clearly showed they were going in different paths
if it wasn't subtle enough, Kim fading away at the end couldn't have been any less subtle

unrelated, I wonder how this show is currently playing to those who didn't come from seeing BB
the show stood on its own pretty well early on even with brief cameos (ex Tuco, Lydia/Madrigal) but now with a bunch of the BB connections coming into play I have to think those who don't bring the BB background to this are completely lost (ex. meth lab construction, Gus' motivations with Hector, Saul's call to Ed to be extracted)

I will go on record now as saying Kim Wexler/Rhea Seehorn better get her own series when she is off this show. She really raises the bar acting for this show and is simply amazing in this role. yet another episode that I couldn't believe was over when 60 minutes was up.

For me the only misfire was the song playing during the Germans doing construction, one of the few lulls on the show for me.

He secretly hated Hector, who was a rival who made Gus look bad in front of Don Eladio. He wants him to hurt, to make him suffer. He doesn't want a quick death for Hector. When Hector got the stroke, Gus hired the best neurologist he could. He wanted Hector to be aware of his situation, not a vegetable. That's why when he saw Hector knew what was going on, he relieved the Neurologist of her duties before she could help him walk or talk.

Gus made his sadistic desires very clear with the Coyote story last episode.
