The best part of the show (actually probably the only good part) was the marriage proposal. If it was 2 famous people it probably would have been vomit inducing. But it was just so sincere and unexpected and the audience reaction was pure gold. The roof damn near blew off the place. I watched it probably 20 times.
The only show I've seen that was nominated was Stranger Things. I'm at the point with tv shows that its become so impossible to keep up with all the good shows because of the massive amount of content out there, that I've done a complete 180 and decided I just won't watch any of them.
The only shows I watch regularly are Colbert, Seth Meyers, TMZ, Ring of Honor and NXT. And Seinfeld reruns.

I actually like Jost and Che on SNL, but this was a bad fit. They are not dynamic performers, and in a situation like this you need to have hosts who can control the room.
I would agree that this being a bad fit should have been obvious though.

I was happy about some of the winners, but the Emmy broadcast as a whole was not a winner last night. That was one of the worst awards shows I've ever seen. The host were bad, their recurring skits were unfunny, and the format was so awkward.
I really didn't like how they announced nominees and then brought out presenters to read their awkward script before finally revealing the winner. It ruined the momentum. If you're going to insist on making the presenters read tired lines, do it before the nominees are announced.
One of my favorite moments was when they had the two presenters point out the bad jokes and awkward segues. Of course, it only reinforced just how much more awkward this year's Emmys award show was.
I initially thought the same thing, but then I realized the reactions you heard were actually the audience from the live Aretha performance that was played.

This Is Us and The Americans were two of the few shows I watched in real time last season, and I would've been fine with either winning. I wouldn't be surprised if voters voted for Rhys as a last hurrah, figuring Brown would have future seasons to win.

I didn't see the show, but I've been reading a bit of controversy over the "In Memoriam" segment. They included John McCain, but not Mac Miller. But in seeing the list of celebrities listed, did they really not include Harry Anderson? The guy's fucking CAREER was television, from SNL to Cheers to Night Court and Dave's World.

ok, good. I saw a list online, and he wasn't on it. Seemed impossible to believe.

Yeah, Harry was there. But there are always a few who slip through the cracks.
I think they included McCain just to troll Trump.
Not sure why the Emmys would include Mac Miller.

McCain did host SNL a couple of times, and LM produced the show.

I thought the inclusion of McCain was strange, like jumping on a bandwagon, but I guess they justify it by saying he hosted SNL.

Just finally watched it. Pretty happy with these awards. Was really rooting for Winkler, Hader, Matthew Rhys and Thandie Newton and was delighted that they all won. Also thrilled that Joe and Joel won for writing The Americans finale. It's hard to stick a landing and I thought theirs was outstanding. Wanted Keri Russell as well but can't argue with Foy getting it. Really no bad winners in drama or comedy. Few repeats too (and I'll never complain about honoring Dinklage even if I might be rooting for a new winner). GoT probably didn't deserve the top prize, but I still dig it.
