They spent waaaaayyyyyyy too much time in the Redemption House this episode.... I wonder if we're going to get a challenge and an elimination match in the same episode this season. They had a longer than usual shoot time for this season. I'm afraid that they are going to drag this season out longer than Dirty 30.....

Those people pushing 40 are making over 6 figures a year doing this stuff. Why would you try to work a 9-5 job instead of doing Challenges until you are no longer asked or physically can't?

CT and Bananas and the other vets make more for 1 appearance for a 6 week vacation in a foreign locale than I have ever made in 1 year. They should do these as long as they want. Screw any so called fans who have issues with it.

There may be one or two episodes with a full challenge and elimination but it is pretty clear based on the last several years that they prefer this format and it seems to be working as they get decent ratings in the demo and it keeps getting renewed so...

I don't believe for one second believe that if every episode was formatted the way the old challenges were that it would affect the ratings in any way. The people who watch this show will watch it regardless. Nobody new is gonna come and be so impressed with the original format if they reverted to that way that it affects their viewership.

They are just slowing the pacing and momentum down to crawl and making the show not as enjoyable as it used to be. I was watching the show while working out and the show was at least 30 minutes of the house and redemption house and maybe 12-15 minutes of challenge action. I'll still watch, but it's becoming more of a chore to watch.

Yeah I don't disagree, it is pretty obvious they are way more interested in the drama of the show vs the competition aspect of it. Especially with the addition of the non Real World/Road Rules cast members who are cast mostly based on their drama and not athletic ability apparently.

Angela and Faith did really well in the challenge even though they are mostly known for their drama.

yep and Tori has done ok competition wise, Derrick however is a big flop. You wouldn't think that by looking at them but Tori is a better athlete and competitor overall.

So Kam’s band was definitely longer than Paulie’s, right?

Tori is awesome. One of the best new additions in a long time. Funny, pretty, good competitor.

Cara said his bands were thicker and shorter as an equalizer. They probably went a little too far.

Yup. It certainly looked that way.

Yeah, they went way too far with that. He couldn't barely move forward and Kam just stood there looking like she was at a picnic.

Kinda irritated me that people were making comments that he was getting his ass kicked by "killer" Kam yet there was a good reason that was happening.

Re: The Challenge: Final Reckoning (MTV) -- premieres 7/10/18

Kam's advantage was nearly as bad as the female's advantage in Bloodlines where the guys had to carry extremely heavy backpacks and the girls had much, much, much lighter backpacks.

Unclejosh 07-25-18 03:02 PM

Re: The Challenge: Final Reckoning (MTV) -- premieres 7/10/18

Yeah production clearly messed up and didn't figure out the proper resistance for the actual people competing. Like that amount would be valid for someone CT against Jemmye, maybe.

Kam and Kayleigh might still have won, but multiple people said that Kam being right at the cage and able to get a bigger view of the puzzle and directing Kayleigh helped immensely in figuring it out. Something Paulie was unable to help Natalie with due to his bands in comparison to Kam's.

Anyone watch Fear Factor after the Challenge? CT/Cara Maria and Jordan/Tori were on against 2 other teams of MTV personalities.

Yeah, it sucks that Paulie was handicapped that much. It looked like he had an extra rubber strand on his too. I also noticed that Kam was able to walk right up to the cage whereas Paulie could only get like half way there, like Unclejosh said. Really shitty and unfair.

I just watched the episode and came over to post about this. I understand handicapping Paulie somewhat but that was absolutely ridiculous. Kam could pick up her pieces and stroll over to stand next to the cage without holding on to anything and he couldn't even crawl to it. What a joke. Production should be ashamed of themselves for not stopping the comp and correcting the obvious mistake.

It sure didn't stop Kam from celebrating like she won the Super Bowl though. It is astonishing how every elimination she is in she gets incredible breaks like this or her competitor is a total fail.

Re: The Challenge: Final Reckoning (MTV) -- premieres 7/10/18

Wow, they would've been much better off having Natalie grab the pieces than Paulie with that handicap. Kam was standing next to the cage at one point, ridiculous.

I do like how they choose who goes into elimination, I feel people will start voting for teams they feel they can easily beat.

Big improvement for sure. I never have liked that they sit in a big group (think) and vote. This is much better, especially with the twist that you might face them if the ones you vote for go in.

I've not watched this show but I caught the tail end of Fear Factor the other day... CT was on it and holy cow, has he ballooned up. He used to be a in great shape but he must've put on 50+ lbs of bad weight.

Unclejosh 07-26-18 12:06 PM

Re: The Challenge: Final Reckoning (MTV) -- premieres 7/10/18

And he actually lost some weight for Fear Factor. He was bigger before.

leeta 07-26-18 06:10 PM

Re: The Challenge: Final Reckoning (MTV) -- premieres 7/10/18

Now that they are offering a ridiculous amount of money as the prize, maybe CT will get serious and get in fighting shape. And I hope next season that he won't be stuck with someone who doesn't really offer anything to his game. Even as big as he's gotten, he's still a tough competitor and if he dropped around 25 or 30, he would be very hard to stop (except with producer manipulation).

Hate that they are spending at least 40 minutes on drama. I watch for the comps and the elims. Drama is fine, just don't take up the majority of airtime with it.

So do Paulie and Natalie go the elimination house now?

Seems to be the case, though it looks like whatever battle-back method they plan to use is happening pretty quickly so it may not be for long.
