I can't recall one really good season finale out of the shows i watch, whether it's season or series finale, they have all been ordinary. None have had any wow factor

Gotham

Designated Survivor

AP Bio
Walking Dead

What do you guys think ? particularly bad season for finales ? or all of the good ones in shows i don't watch ?

I like the Gotham one. Reminds me of Escape From N.Y. City is cut off, no power, all the bad guys and crazies in charge. Anything goes.

Liked the last scene in Supernatural with Dean/Michael walking down the street in fancy clothes. It's more of the same but got me looking forward to it.

Timeless was great, if we ever get to see what happens.

Walking Dead sucked except for creating an out to stop watching.

So far only Legends of Tomorrow had a lot of fun ...

I agree with this so far, and I didn't love the Legends of Tomorrow not Atlanta finales relative to the strength of their seasons, but I have high expectations for the finales of The Terror, The Americans, and Legion.

I've been satisfied with Big Bang Theory and Brooklyn Nine Nine.

Arrow had a very solid finale, IMO.

I can see a great set-up for a gritty prison storyline, which they could cross-cut with an storyline outside the prison using their other heroes. Let's see if they do that.

Not every season finale has to be a big "event" with some kind of shocking death and such.

I thought Agents of Shield from Friday had a very nice wrap up and send off for some of the characters. No major cliffhanger because the show doesn't come back for 12 months.

I don't watch Gotham but it sounds like the No Man's Land storyline in Batman back around 1999.

I don't watch a lot of network TV. I've seen a bit of CBS lately, between Colbert and Wheel of Fortune (a big deal for our kids). Plenty of commercials for the NCIS: Los Angeles season finale with everyone getting blown up in their SUV by a missile launcher. Certainly that will be part of the episode, yes? Nope, it's the last few seconds. Literally, they've been showing the final seconds of the season finale for at least a week or two. Interesting marketing. If I was an actual fan of the show I think I'd be upset.

I had no idea I was watching the finales of BBT, Scorpion, the Good Doctor and Modern Family until I hopped on DVDtalk to find out they were finales. Big Bang Theory kinda felt like a finale, but seemed rushed so I didn't think twice about it while watching.

Of the shows I've watched the season finale of (Criminal Minds, Riverdale, Scorpion, MacGyver, Good Place, Timeless, Star Trek: Discovery, Deception):

Deception wowed me (for the second time this season), although now it's more of a series finale than season finale. Timeless kind of wowed me. The rest were fine, but not wow-y, with the exception of scorpion which felt forced to me.
