Life Sentence (CW) -- S: Lucy Hale -- Premieres 3/7/18

When Stella (Lucy Hale), a young woman who has spent the last eight years living like she was dying, finds out that her cancer has been cured, she is suddenly forced to face the long-term consequences of the "live in the moment" decisions she made, including marrying a total stranger. She also finds out that her "perfect family" isn't so perfect after all and everyone in her life hid their problems from her. Stella is shocked to learn that her parents, Peter (Dylan Walsh) and Ida (Gillian Vigman), have fallen out of love, her sister, Elizabeth (Brooke Lyons), gave up her own dreams to start a family with her husband Diego (Carlos PenaVega) to take care of her, and her often overlooked brother, Aiden (Jayson Blair), who's pushing 30 and still lives above the garage, sells Adderall to soccer moms and uses Stella's cancer to guilt them into sleeping with him. Meanwhile, Stella's husband Wes (Elliot Knight), begins to worry that he can't continue to pretend to be her perfect husband for the rest of his life. With a real future suddenly in front of her, Stella's cinematic life snaps into reality, and instead of living like she's dying, she will have to learn to live like she's living, and help her family and friends do the same. Lee Toland Krieger directed the episode written by Erin Cardillo & Richard Keith (#101). Original airdate 3/7/2018.

PRINCIPAL CAST INFORMATION:
· Brooke Lyons as Elizabeth
· Carlos PenaVega as Diego
· Dylan Walsh as Peter
· Elliot Knight as Wes
· Gillian Vigman as Ida
· Jayson Blair as Aiden
· Lucy Hale as Stella

This show probably doesn't fit the demographic of this forum.

This show was created by 2 of the Producers of Fuller House.

Lucy Hale was one of the stars of Pretty Little Liars for 7 seasons.

I really enjoyed Lucy Hale in Pretty Little Liars, she was my favorite on that show. I lasted through the first commercial break of this insipid pilot before calling it quits.

More like Death Sentence. Should be canceled shortly.

I recorded it, I also like Hale.

36% on RT right now, but 85% liked it.

It sounds like a really cheesy, saccharine and sweet show that will make most old farts gag.

That's why I said this kind of show probably doesn't fit most of the demographic of this forum.

Pretty Little Liars only got attention here because it was a serialized murder mystery and had 5 really attractive 20-something girls as the stars even though it ran a few seasons too long.

I'd encourage everyone interested to at least give it a try, nobody's tastes are ever the same, etc.

Personally, it felt to me like the concept had some potential, but the execution was off. Stella (Hale) was the center of everything and we only got to see the other characters in a superficial way, but I feel like we didn't get enough time to really get to know Stella either.

I'll give it at least a couple more episodes, as the pilot isn't always the best example and the show might improve. It can happen.

Scissor Sisters

I found Lucy Hale (Stella) likable, but the execution felt off. The supporting characters, especially her husband, felt very superficial and under-developed. The Mom was very under-developed and then throwing in the Lesbian lover felt rushed, especially in the 1st hour.

It's very gooey, syrupy like a Hallmark movie. It's not going to appeal to most here, but if you're familiar with Hale and like Hallmark type programming, it's worth at least a try. I'll give it a few weeks. But, I did find Hale's narration to be a little too much.

It's The CW wanting to do something different other than a super hero show.

I wish if they wanted something different, they would do dramas via the WB era like Gillmore Girls, Dawson's Creek or Everwood. 13 Reasons Why would've been a good show for The CW if Netflix didn't do it.

Hell, let Berlanti bring back Everwood! Foreverwood!!!

I also watched and found it to be not bad but it helps that even though I gave up on Pretty Little Liars after maybe the end of the 3rd season I have seen Lucy Hale in other shows and find her to be as cute as a button. I like that the mother is BI, but damn...they just dropped that bomb on the viewer with no backstory.

I did laugh when the husband is shut down from complaining after the support group guy is like eat your farewell from this group pizza because your wife is no longer dying. I appreciate that he seems like a dude who will stick around even though she is not dying but feels free to start speaking up about little and not so little things actually annoy him.

It is no Hart Of Dixie but I will stick around.

As much as I want to look at Lucy Hale for an hour every week, I watched the pilot and I don't think I can stick with this one.

I didn't think the pilot was that bad. It was too rushed as pilots usually are. For me, I didn't like the siblings in the pilot. I like Hale enough to keep tuning in.

Re: Life Sentence (CW) -- S: Lucy Hale -- Premieres 3/7/18

They put some meat on the bones of her family members which was nice. I find myself surprised at how easy it was to watch this so shortly after it aired and it bodes well that it will not go the route of No Tomorrow where I watched maybe the first two episodes and then it quickly piled up on my tivo so I never finished the show.

Again, Lucy Hale continues to be adorable and makes this show such an easy breezy watch.

Don't expect a 2nd season. Being banished to Fridays starting April 27th.

The Originals final season will take over it's Wednesday timeslot.

Dynasty is also on Fridays, but that will likely get a 2nd season because of it's international Netflix deal.

Re: Life Sentence (CW) -- S: Lucy Hale -- Premieres 3/7/18

Okay, so this show is looking like it will actually go the No Tomorrow (and other CW shows like Frequency) route and be one and done after Deadline reports it is moving to Fridays to be paired up with Dynasty (another show with even more abysmal ratings than usual for a CW show). At least this telegraphs to the show runners to please not end on a cliffhanger as the CW appears to be giving them a chance to wrap things up properly with this announcement.

I find this show quite fun to watch and I am going to stick with it until the series finale.

Re: Life Sentence (CW) -- S: Lucy Hale -- Premieres 3/7/18

I only watched the 1st 2 episodes and honestly I wasn't really that into it. I only tried it because I like Lucy Hale.

I think I'll cut my losses now. Way too much on to keep wasting DVR space on a dead show that I'm not into.

Really doubt I'll re-visit it when it ends up on Netflix after the season ends. I have other Netflix backlog that takes precedent this summer.
