Chris Rock: Tamborine - New Netflix Comedy Special - 2-14-18
from THR
Always great to hear new Chris Rock. Hard to believe its been 10 years since Kill the Messanger
The comedian's first televised stand-up gig in 10 years, Chris Rock: Tamborine, will debut on the streaming platform this Valentine's Day. Directed by fellow comedian Bo Burnham and filmed at New York's Brooklyn Academy of Music, the comedy special has turned out to be the reveal behind Netflix's mysterious tamborine-themed advertising campaign, which included a teaser video and billboards in Los Angeles and New York.
Tamborine is the first of two Netflix stand-up specials to come from Rock, who will attempt to use his incisive commentary on relationships, race and society on life in 2018.

I go back and forth on who is the best of this era: Chappelle, Rock, or LouisCK? Rock's 1996 HBO Standup is still one of the best.

Almost hard to describe the new one. It's very good. It's about him cheating on his wife/divorce and other marriage stuff in the final 30 minutes.
The Bullying stuff is great. 10 years of Rock is hard to take in during one viewing.
I think Chappelle is funnier RIGHT NOW while you're watching, but I think Chris Rock sticks with you.
I almost can't believe his honesty in this special. I'd been waiting all of 2017 since my good pal saw him last March. It is appropriate that Rock, I'm sure, had this released on Valentine's Day.
I need to watch it again.

The bit you're thinking of was from the 1998 follow up special/album, Roll with the New, and the line is "I'm not saying he should have killed her... but I understand"

Watched it last night and it was pretty good, not as great as his old stuff.
The bullying part was dead on, as these kids today have no 'streets smarts' because society and their parents are trying to shield them for any bad thing that can happen in life. You have to be able to deal with assholes when you're a kid so you can deal with assholes when you get out in the real world.
I think Chappelle has better stories in his standup, but Chris Rock has better one-liners. I like where he thanked all the white people in the crowd for putting a few black kids through private school!
Thanks for clarifying it as it had been so long, I had forgot the exact line.

I don't know I just don't get Chappelle, I tried watching his specials and I don't find them remotely funny. There have been several Netflix stand-up specials I have tried watching lately and they just aren't funny.
Rodney Carrington's last special was horrendous. I could not believe how bad it was.
How much will I have to fast forward while the bashes Trump? Because everyone has to.

I've been a Chris Rock fan since the beginning. Even when I completely disagree with his stances (like his very old person views on men/women and bullying) I still find him funny.

There’s a couple Louis C.K. and George Carlin shows that come in close behind.
