I thought it looked good, but I really like the coming of age genre. I haven't been watching Netflix much recently, but this and The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale will be having me watching Netflix.

Was hoping for a Descendents' theme song and was disappointed.

Re: Everything Sucks! (Netflix) -- premieres 2/16/18
I just watched the first episode. These are 23-27 minute episodes so it should make for a quick binge. I really like how the show was shot and the music. They must have spent a lot of money on 90's music for the pilot. I really like the actor who plays the principal, but they miscast the younger actors. The two main characters are not really good actors and that brings the first episode down. I keep thinking how the young actors on Freaks and Geeks and Stranger Things are so much better than this cast... I'll keep watching and see if the young actors improve any throughout the season since it's not a terribly long season. Right now I'd give the show a C.

I was looking forward to this but so far I think it sucks and relies to heavily on making references and using music.
And yes, the acting is bad.

I didn't think it was too bad as a whole, but I thought it was a little weird how...

If I had watched the trailer, I probably wouldn't be watching this.
I'm glad I didn't, as I am quite enjoying the show.
It is no Freaks and Geeks, but not many shows are of that quality.

I watched the first season when it dropped and don't think I'd watch a second.

I'm 5 episodes in and thinking about bailing. The children characters are boring and it lacks any sort of charm. The principal and Luke's mom have been the best part so far.
And outside of the songs, they did a pretty bad job of capturing the tone of the 90's.

So I stuck with it and finished it last night. The last few episodes were a lot better than the first few. The show bottomed out when Luke said "fo shizzle". That's an early 2000's phrase. Come on!
The last few episodes made better use of the secondary characters, and, overall, the best part of the season was Mom/Principal relationship. I found myself really rooting for that one to work.
It was nice to see Kate's story come full circle but
I think the biggest problem was that Luke was a shitty character. He was awkward but not charming at first. Then he turned into a flat out asshole.

After reading this thread I decided to give this a shot on Friday and I am glad that I had not watched the trailer or read any of the reviews because like a handful of folks in this thread I thought it was actually pretty good and yes the budding relationship between the mom and Principal dad was fantastic (I hope the final scene with the Blockbuster Dad does not derail season 2).
Also, yay for shows with a realistic length to be able to actually binge in one sitting!! I think I watched the entire show Friday evening after I got home from work (or was it on Sat, I watched a lot of streaming tv/movies this weekend so my memory of when I saw what just blurs together). Seriously, more streaming shows should be no longer than 23-26 minutes.
Anyway, I think that the kids were alright in this and the parents of the main characters were a pleasant surprise. I have basically spoiled nothing so it is worth giving it a shot...did I mention you can binge this in less than 3 hours (the real reason why you might give it a shot)?

Yeah...my math is off, and I spent about 4 hours watching. It is one of those start and finish shows on Netflix unlike Altered Carbon where I was starting up my 4th in a row episode and realized I need to step away from the show for at least a few day to a week.

This was cancelled today. http://tvline.com/2018/04/06/everyth...x-no-season-2/
I never went back and finished the episodes I hadn't watched. I won't miss it at all.

When I posted in the cancellation thread I searched for this thread first, man searching on this site blows. It is why I do not give folks shit when they say I looked for an existing thread on subject xyz but could not find it, and then folks crawl out of the woodwork to say dude, there are already three threads on this subject already on the site but it would be nice if these old threads were easier to find.
Anyway, not the end of the world that it was cancelled but at least it was a one evening (one and done) binge for me and I have no regrets (I probably would have wasted 5-6 hours watching some other junk on cable instead of doing something productive during this time anyway).
