'Glee' Actor Mark Salling Dead at 35
Mark Salling is dead of an apparent suicide, according to law enforcement ... TMZ has learned.
We're told his body was found near a riverbed in Sunland ... the area where he lived. We do not yet know the manner of death. We're told he may have died after hanging himself. We've learned the address where Salling was found dead is a little league field near a creek.
The former "Glee" star was awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography involving prepubescent minors. Prosecutors say he had 50,000 images of underage children.
Sentencing in the case was set for March. He was expected to get 4 to 7 years in prison as part of a plea deal.
TMZ broke the story ... Salling had cut his wrists back in August and it appeared to be a suicide attempt, although his lawyer denied it.

I've known lots of actors in my time in Hollywood. One, who was very prolific in the amount of tv/movies he did (up until his death in 2015), told me "If i'm not busy.. I'm causing trouble. I don't know what else to do with myself and I do stupid shit."
I often wonder if a lot of these actors feel this same way when a hit series which consumed their lives and schedules is over and they feel like a moth who can't find a light to head towards.

If they still made that show E! True Hollywood Story, the episode on Glee would be epic. For all of its sunny demeanor and pop songs, the behind the scenes on that show sounds pretty horrific.

I think child porn should obviously be illegal, and the sentence he received was just. But at the same time I feel like this guy got really fucked over by life if he was sexually attracted to kids.

If the case was that he assaulted a child, then I'd say he is where he belongs. But I dunno, I kind of feel bad for him. The first thing that I noticed about that press release was that 1) he had images of prepubescent child porn and 2) that he had 50,000 images of underage children. It does not say that he had 50,000 images of prepubescent porn, or even of prepubescent children. As it's worded, he could have had 50,000 images of high school cheerleaders.
As Leacha says, having photos of child porn means that you have photos of horribly mistreated children.
I once corresponded with a guy whose tastes ran to rape and torture, but he didn't like the idea of spending the rest of his life behind bars. So he wrote torture porn fiction, and did nothing more extreme than consensual S&M sex with real live women.
It's not a popular position, but I don't think pedophiles should be arrested for having bad thoughts. Let them have their creepy drawings. But once real children start getting hurt, yeah, prosecute them.

Mark Salling’s victims won't receive thousands of dollars in restitution in the wake of the “Glee” star’s suicide on Tuesday.
Salling, who plead guilty in December to charges of possessing thousands of images of child pornography, had agreed to a plea deal in October 2017 where he would serve a 4-to-7-year sentence and pay $50,000 in restitution to each of his victims.
But since the actor took his own life before his sentencing, the deal was not complete and the judge no longer has the power to order payment to the victims, according to TMZ.
His sentencing was scheduled for March. It is possible that the victims could sue Salling’s estate for damages, the gossip site reported.

Latest Blind Item says he was murdered and he had defensive wounds because he was prepared to give up the names of the people he got the pics from as part of his plea deal and they did not want their names brought up. The names were Charlie Sheen who the pictures were originally part of his collection, Ryan Murphy, and David Geffen. Probably all crap but these days who knows.

“It’s been tough. He was a troubled, troubled guy, and he always was,” Lynch, 57, told Us Weekly exclusively at Adopt the Arts’ Annual Rock Gala on Wednesday, January 31. “This is a very sad end to it, but I know that he’s at peace now. He’s in the arms of a beneficent force.”

“I know life was very, very hard for Mark. I think we all do the best we can at the end of the day. I know Mark that did the best he could,” Lynch continued. The Emmy Award winner admitted she didn’t know Salling’s family and really didn’t know him, regardless of working together for six years.
“He was a hard guy to get to know,” she said.
However, she does have a personal memory with Salling she holds close to her heart.
“He took videos of the stages and everything. He was so happy to be coming to work, to be on the show. He wrote a song and videotaped his day being on Glee,” Lynch explained. “Driving into the Paramount lot … at that time he was living on a cot in a little room. It was a big jump for him in his career, and also, he had a job and was in with this group of really great kids. I think he knew that he was breathing rarefied air. There was so much joy and happiness in his musical video that he shot for himself. Fox made him take it down. But it was a sweet, beautiful expression of his joy and being in Glee.”
