Barry doesn’t even have to cleanup the scene. Ten minutes ago he pulled off this nifty triick to make himself invisible. Just wait, go back to Joe’s and have six people with alibis with you.

Re: The Flash (S4E09) -- "Don't Run" -- 12/5/17

I think Gustin and Patton have done fine together as an onscreen couple. I have no issues with their relationship and chemistry. It is what it is, opinions on who makes the best on screen couples will always be subjective. People hated Oliver and Laurel, Mon-El and Kara, Kara and Jimmy and Oliver and Felicity still gets a lot of hate. Seems like no TV couple will ever make every fan happy.
The problem is that these shows tend to pick two people who I assume they think will grow into having chemistry, and they never do. It says a lot that the two characters who are supposed to have their own Lois Lane's one married someone else and one has had the least amount of charisma with her compared to everyone else. Mehcad Brooks having no charisma with any actress is anther example.

Iris doesn't have any powers and some of you think she adds nothing of value to team Flash. But, she does seem to be the default leader of the team and help coordinate their weekly operations from Star Labs. And she's the lead's spouse, so they have to find a place for her. Plus, she's the daughter of a cop, so she does have knowledge of law enforcement.
That's the entire problem. Iris is the classic damsel in distress but they don't want to make her that, and instead put her in less and less realistic roles. Iris as a reporter was believeable. Iris now being portrayed as a tactical genius and leader of team Flash for no reason other than the writhers putting her in it makes no sense, especially over Harry, Cisco or Caitlin and Joe. You have two scientists with PHD's, a scientist from a different earth who is a genuis and someone who is a life long cop. But Iris brings, um, I got nothing.

I think putting Iris on Team Flash was mostly a budget issue. Having Iris as a reporter involves an entirely different set (at more expense) with possibly another recurring character needed as her boss or co-worker.

The show is plowing most of its money into effects and the sprawling ensemble cast. I expect the cast to be pared down after season five, when Grant starts making serious money as the essential lead.

It's too bad they got rid of that Patti character in season 2. Now there was chemistry.

I thought Cisco was the leader.

Yep. Can't even have her pop up on another Earth either because it will just shine a spotlight on how little chemistry Gustin and Patton have. Kinda like how Benoist does when she shows up as Supergirl.
