There is no way they kill Darryl, as they will lose a good chunk of the female audience. I think after the Glen death, every major character is safe for the foreseeable future as we are in the cycle of them killing off secondary characters for the next year or two.

Yea, Darryl would have been a nice surprise instead of Glenn but now they won;t risk losing more "mainstream" fans. Interesting enough, both Norman and Andrew L. resigned this past summer for over 500K an episode. Those two are the major $$$ on that cast.

It was a really stupid part of the episode. They slink down alleyways shooting every single person they come across and then they get to that guy and oh he has no weapon and he's surrendering so OK let's cut him a break.. oops OK now he has a weapon but he's still OK because now, suddenly, shooting him is "not what we do" although it was what we did a few minutes ago.

Jesus wasn't anti-killing in general. He's anti-killing unarmed enemies who are surrendering. Presumably this war will be over one day and they might want to have more people around they can work with. They don't want to necessarily get a reputation for being vicious, merciless killers or they could wind up in the same situation Negan's in right now.

I have noticed this over the years as well. I guess I sort of got over the complaint by thinking that people in this situation would not want to wear bright colors. Those would stand out, and make them possibly more visible to walkers or other groups. Also, what were bright colored clothes would soon be dingy from dirt/sweat and lack of washing before too long.

It couldn't have been much unless we think Negan was okay with the way things were left between the groups.

They had that guy and the girl who plays Tara on Talking Dead. He, himself, seemed a little confused about why he had to be so suddenly against killing someone. It seemed quite contrived.

I totally understand his not wanting to shoot the man when he claimed to be unarmed and a prisoner of the Saviors. I do get that dilemma. But when he pulls a weapon and is holding one of your guys hostage, the question has been answered in my book.

I said it before, if he didn't want to kill people, Paul shouldn't have gone on the raid. He could have stayed back to guard Alexandria, freeing Coral up to go with them. Carl is useful.

It comes down to the writers not having enough skill and imagination to create some new internal or external conflicts with the character. So they'll just re-use the same old conflicts.
As already stated, it seems like every season a character suddenly wants to be a pacifist - and then comes out of it because they realize it's about survival, self-defense and the bigger picture. And there's always a character that takes a stand on when it's right to kill and when it isn't - even though they've contradicted themselves plenty of times before that.

The writers are trying to elevate the show by being more than just an action-packed gore-fest with the use of these social/moral commentaries, but are just failing miserably at it - resulting in a show that doesn't satisfy on any level.
