Watched the 3rd episode last night. It introduced a change of pace compared to the first two -- and it works. It's unfortunate that

Holy shit, This was great. I binged watched it over night... can't remember the last show that had that effect on me.
What a great western, I am flabbergasted at how good this was.

I agree this has been just superb.
I only have the finale to watch tonight and I can’t wait for it.

So does anyone else not have a problem with the godawful conclusion (only last 25 minutes)? I can't be the only one.

This was the best western I've seen in quite some time. I didn't know what to expect. I was just looking for something to fill the last several days in my free Netflix streaming month, but it surprised me with its quality.
Personally I didn't have much problem with the conclusion. The series built up to that crescendo pretty well.

Watched episodes 4-5 over the weekend. Not the strongest thus far, but still pretty good. In episode 4, I don't quite understand the significance of the 'sick house' - unless there's more to come on that with Frank or they just wanted to provide more perspective on what life was like at that time and that 'death' is everywhere as part of this narrative. If anything, it did serve up a great nod to Leone's OUATITW with the tracking shot that scaled the building to reveal what was behind it.
Minor note: I was hoping we'd see more alums pop up from The Knick. So far, it's only been A.T. Grigg.

Finished this after 4 nights. Really enjoyed it. I'd love to see a new season for sure.
I assume this will win some awards.

Solid series, took awhile to get into it, but enjoyed Jeff Daniels and the Ladies...

Just finished the series and loved it!
I was expecting Dockery's part to be bigger--I mean, she was fairly important, but really there were several characters that were just as or more important than her.
Jeff Daniels made a great villain. He played the paternal moments really well, which made his more violent scenes really chilling.
It was shocking how some characters were killed off before they had their 'moment'. Like Marshal Cook (Sam Waterston), or even Whitey (the Love, Actually kid!), though Whitey did at least make it to the final episode.
The LaBelle Sherrif, Bill McNue, reminded me a little of the July Johnson character from Lonesome Dove, the way he goes off on his own in pursuit of bad men who are much better killers than he is.
I would have liked to see Kim Coates' character (the mining companies' enforcer) get a little more of a comeuppance for being such an asshole.
The German woman was awesome--I would have liked more backstory on her!

I finally binged the last 4 episodes and this was an incredible mini series. I wonder if we will ever get a sequel but if not it was great while it lasted. The gunfight with horses in the building was a ton of fun to watch...it is hard to create a gunfight in a Western that is original but this was definitely one of them.
Okay, can someone explain why the ending (aka the last 25 minutes) rubbed so many DVD Talkers the wrong way? I understand that there are some plot holes/loose threads that were not addressed, but for the most part I have no issues with those that want to sing the praise of this series.

Loved this series as well. And I'm no Western fan.
That last episode's fight/showdown. Wow. Just.....wow.
