Is Matt Nix planning to have every cast member from "Burn Notice" appear on this show? Not complaining but it does kind of make my brain mash up the two shows.

The portal stuff was neat. The truck getting cut in half was a cool effect. Enjoying the show

I really like the use of color on the show. Reminds me of the 90s animated series.

I'm enjoying this a lot. The only real problem I have with it is that by downgrading the X-Men connection it feels more like the old Mutant X TV show or a syndicated show from the early 90's.

Two weeks in and I'm already enjoying this more than the rest of the increasingly long list of superhero shows.

How are they downgrading the X-Men connection though? Several of the main cast are b list XMen themselves, and they're going up against Sentinels. Heck you have the daughter of
Spoiler:
Magneto
here, I'm sure they'll do something with that. They namedropped the MLF as well.

Plus we're going to get mutant hounds soon, I think.

Stylistically it's so different from Legion tho. Are these two shows in the same universe?

Re: The Gifted (S1E02) -- "rX" -- 10/9/17

I think the producers said it was officially unconnected with the movie and Legion universes, and the show's seem so stylistically different like you said that I can't see a crossover happening organically. Though you obviously have ties to the XMen and Brotherhood, it gives them some leeway I guess (not that the movies have a tight continuity anyway, but they did kind of paint themselves into a corner with stuff like Alex Summers being Xavier's age). Plus it allows stuff like New Mutants to have a different world view.

The Polaris hair reveal was pretty cool. They jump around the different plot lines and locales pretty seamlessly so far, though we'll converge soon enough.

I thought that was one of the most innovative FX scenes I've seen on television in years. It felt more like a scene ripped from a movie than the standard stunts we get on TV.

The first two episodes have been above my expectations. The show isn't really pandering to casual viewers and the writing has been crisp.

Re: The Gifted (S1E02) -- "rX" -- 10/9/17

Good 2nd episode. I like the style of it. Plus there's been enough excitement and action to keep the hour moving. The portal sequences were cool.

Yeah they said in the Pilot episode the X-Men are MIA. I mentioned it in the last thread, but I think this takes place before Days of Future Past. Weren't the X-Men in hiding as well in that movie? The mutants were being hunted down like they were here.

So I think this is one of those timeline streams (as Nix mentioned) until things got re-written by the ending of DOFP.

Excellent - we're in for the ride. Quick Q - what did they say the daughter's power is - solid air? or something to do w pulling water from the air into solid forms? (Trying to recall what I read elsewhere ... )

She said she could manipulate air molecules, and she could do the same with water but it was much harder for her to do. I have no idea how that extrapolates to being able to close Blink's portals, though.

She was pushing the air around the portals to squeeze them closed. At least that's what it looked like to me.

The daughter's powers are very similar to how they first used Invisible Girl's invisible force fields back in the 1960s and 1970s.

Amy Acker's mutant power is that she gets better looking the older she gets.
