Tune in next season to find out.

This reddit post explains the DNA tests and predicted this surprise twist a year ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/TheBlackLis..._test_results/
Pay attention: there were TWO DNA tests done. One by Cooper on a 30 year old sample. A second by Liz based on the scotch glass "palmed in Montreal." We know the the test based on the 30 year old sample showed Reddington is the father. But Liz never saw the results from the sample taken in Montreal. Thus, the imposter Reddington theory is still alive.

I'm certain those bones are NOT Katarina, but they could be the bones of Raymond Reddington, father of Masha. It's possible that Liz did kill Raymond Reddington, but more likely or that the person we now see as Red killed Liz's father and Liz shot the person we now see as Red.

If The character we see as Red killed the father of Liz, that might have been news to Kirk when whipped to him.
That last paragraphs is in reference to Alexander Kirk, who let "Red" go after Red whispered something in his ears, even though Kirk claimed there was nothing Red could say to stop Kirk from killing him. Could revealing he's not really Raymond Reddington be what stopped Kirk?

Going back further: In the mid-season finale of season 1, Red point blank told Liz "no," when she asked if he was her father.

Liz and Jennifer are real half-sisters, both having the original Reddington as their father.

A big question about the reveal is: who would want to take over Reddington's life? He wasn't a criminal mastermind at that point, so whomever took over his identity was basically starting from scratch as a criminal anyway. So was it in some way important to make people think Reddington was still alive? Why?

Liz remembers a fire and shooting her father as a child. Kirk said that she didn't shoot him, and suggested those were implanted memories. But what if Liz did kill her father, her biological one, the real Raymond Reddington?

If Red isn't Red then why is Patrick Dennehy calling Liz his grand daughter? And does he know that Red killed his real son or is it that Red lied to him as well? Ow. My head hurts.

Brian Dennehy's character Dominic Wilkinson is the father of Liz's mother, Katarina Rostova, not Liz's father. He's her maternal grandfather. And he hates Red, or at least this Red, but seems willing to keep Red's secrets.

Snippets from "The Artax Network" Season 3, Episode 20, where Brian Dennehy's character first appears:

These boxes are all I have… all I have left of my daughter.
Red: I’m sorry, Dom. I understand.
Dom: No, you don’t. You don’t understand. You think because Masha’s dead, now you… you can understand me? (SIGHS) You can… you can share my misery?
Red: I feel bereft, just like you.
Dom: No, not just like me. She’s gone because of choices you made for both of them. First Katarina and then Masha. As far as I’m concerned, you killed my entire family! No, you’re not like me.

.....

Dom: I had to make do with photographs of Masha. Did you even tell her about me?
Red: I couldn’t. You know how complicated it was.
Dom: There was nothing complicated about it. We had to back out of Masha’s life to keep her safe, after you made a colossal mess of everything. Only you couldn’t stay well enough away, could you? Now you… you come to my house with this sorry tale of loss, like you’re the only one affected by this. You’re the only one whose feelings matter. Well, guess what, Raymond? Masha was my granddaughter, and now she’s dead without even knowing I existed! (SIGHS) All my sacrifices shot to hell. I could’ve spent the last 30 years just being her grandfather… You selfish prick. (EXHALES DEEPLY)
Red: She had your temper.
Dom: (SCOFFS) I loved that girl enough to let her go, which is more than you can say.

Interesting twist for sure. But I have to admit I was liking the notion that Red and Liz were father and daughter.

Looking forward to next season. Can you imagine if it didn't get renewed and this is how they left it???

Many things make far more sense after that finale. Red initially telling Liz that he is not her father. All of the stuff with Dom. Tom holding back. So now we wait for the "why" to come out during this next final season.

That was about clear as mud. Glad they didn't kill off Samar, she's my favorite character. Haram being a pussy was kind of endearing in some episodes but was pretty annoying in that finale when he gave out the code in the blink of an eye.

Wow, so Red is an impostor. Was not expecting that at all. That changes the dynamics a little.
