Re: Twin Peaks (S1E07) -- "The Return - Part 7" -- 6/18/17

I'm having a real Mandela-effect about Warren Frost. I was shocked to see him in the show, because I was sure he died years and years ago, because I remember thinking at the time, "Damn, one more person gone making a Twin Peaks reunion show harder to do." I can't believe that he died just four months ago (well, in this time-line anyway).

Was the Green Onions guy sweeping up cigarette butts or peanut shell?

Dougie's wife is the best of all the new characters.

Got the chills hearing the old score during the scene of Andy amongst the lush green landscape, waiting for the truck owner. One of my complains about the original series was how many times they played the same three pieces of music over and over, but I wish they weren't being so sparing with it this time around.

This may be the only show that can get away with two minutes of a dude sweeping up peanuts and it still be suspenseful.

With the first four scenes in Twin Peaks, it seems we are slowly getting closer to..well, I don't know, but this may be my favorite episode since the premier.

Well, the Roadhouse is supposed to be a non-smoking establishment now so hopefully those weren't cigarette butts.

What did the guy yell into the Double R at the end of the episode? Anybody catch that?

He was panicky asking if anyone has seen so-and-so, I forget the name, but I presume he was referring to the guy who owned the truck, since it was implied something nasty happened to him.

The plot thickens.

"Fuck you Tammy"

Mwahahahah. Diane is awesome. She might even give Janey-E Jones a run for her money. I think that was probably the most accessible episode so far.

What did the Evolution Of The Arm tell Cooper when he was disarming that midget assassin? Also; so the body in Buckhorn is supposed to be Garland Briggs?

Finally, an episode that actually moves the plot along. If I spent another hour watching Kyle act like a stroke victim, I was going to cancel Showtime before my thirty day trial ran out.

"Take his arm," or something like that.

I think so, but the body was of a man the same age Maj. Briggs was at the time of the original show. Maybe the implication is that Briggs didn't die but was abducted like Carl and the Log Lady.

"Hey! Has anybody seen Bing?" (From the subtitles.)

Re: Twin Peaks (S1E07) -- "The Return - Part 7" -- 6/18/17

This episode relt like it's finally moving the plot along.

Looks like evil-Cooper raped Diane. That's a really dark turn.

Makes me wonder if Richard Horne is likewise the offspring of evil-Cooper and Audrey. He certainly has a dark side. And if he is Audrey's son, then he has his mother's name, not his father's. The implication being that Audrey and his father weren't married, she wanted to conceal the father's identity, or was so angry with his father that she wouldn't name him after him.

The age discrepency with Major Briggs seems to imply more than a twenty-five year stay in the Black Lodge; Cooper seems to have aged.

Best episode since the premiere. Naomi Watts and Laura Dern are both awesome "new" characters on this show. It feels like the show is about to pick up. Fire Walk With Me is really starting to become important. I wish we would have gotten Chris Isaak and Kiefer Sutherland back, but the cast is massive as it is...great episode, though.

Didn't expect Ashley Judd's character to have any impact, but it looks like she might be getting a little backstory now.

Great seeing more of Twin Peaks. Hopefully, the prison story is done and the Dougie stuff will end soon, which will hopefully leave more focus for the town itself. I'd like to see Audrey, more of James (as long as he stays in town), Big Ed, and more of Shelly, Bobby, and even Norma. Geez, I have a hard time believing Peggy Lipton is 70 years old.

So weird to see so many actors who are no longer with us on this show, which was just filmed last year. Doc Hayward, Albert Rosenfeld, The Log Lady, Bob...looks like they picked the right time to make this sequel series. Looking forward to next week.

Big time. Although I can't put my finger on exactly what it was about Diane questioning Bad-Cooper about the last time he saw her, reactions to him (trauma, betrayal) had me thinking that he sexually assaulted her.

Ashley Judd is looking good these days.

This episode was pretty good. The more links to Twin Peaks the better.

Me neither. My guess is that Diane had some sort of romantic interlude with the real Cooper shortly before he was assigned the Laura Palmer case, and hasn't seen him since.

I'm also guessing that some storyline originally intended for Annie has been given to Diane.

The only reason that his name is known is because of the credits. I don't believe it was said anywhere.

It draws parallels with Laura/Leland, especially because we know that BOB is "with" evil Cooper. In part 6 (I think) he looks in the mirror and sees BOB in his own face and says, "I'm glad you're still with me" or something like that.

I think Josh and Crocker are right. In their conversation, Diane and Cooper don't mention a specific amount of time for when they last saw each other, just that it was many years ago, so we don't know if it was before the Laura Palmer case, or after evil Cooper exited the Black Lodge and (eventually) left Twin Peaks. So, I think evil Cooper visited Diane at her house. Whatever happened there was traumatizing for her, as you can see by her body language. I'm not sure there's enough evidence to say that the real Cooper and Diane had anything going on other than their working relationship prior to the Palmer case.

My guess is, the last time she saw the real Cooper was a genuinely good memory, and she was angry/confused after the last time she saw evil Cooper at her house, not knowing that it wasn't really Cooper until meeting him again now.

Re: Twin Peaks (S1E07) -- "The Return - Part 7" -- 6/18/17

While I appreciate the fact that this week connected the story to the original show/movies in a very explicit way, I thought the Hawk/Truman info dump was rather clunky and stuck out like a sore thumb compared to everything else we've seen so far.

Also, does anyone else have a problem with how they've integrated Harry into the story? Unless they have very specific intentions with that plot thread, it seems like it would have been easier to just say he's dead and to move on. The phone call scenes are kind of awkward and I think do Forster's character a bit of a disservice.

I actually thought Forrester was supposed to be playing Harry Truman before production began. In fact I think that was reported somewhere. I wonder if it was one of those Lynch on set audibles.

Yeah, I was laughing at the end of that scene thinking people who know Twin Peaks are bored because they already figured all of that out, and any newcomers this information was supposed to enlighten are more confused then before (Who's Harold? The murder of Jacque who? What the hell are they talking about?"
