The Rick and Morty people must love that their merch is blowing up. I've been seeing Rick and Morty everywhere. Justin Roiland posts lots of it on Twitter. Who knows how much of it is official. Reminds me of The Simpsons in the 90's.

My DVR says that tonight's episode is "The Rickshank Redemption" which is the same one they did on 4/1 no?

New one is on right after that (10:30 CST) -- Rickmancing the Stone.

I've only seen a small part of one episode, but I'm buying into the hype. Going to give this a try.

Rickmancing the Stone was excellent. This show is truly unique and brilliant.

I freakin' love this show. Didn't realize how much I missed it until I started up the new episode.

I know it's from the episode in April but I really am glad they got rid of the Galactic Federation on Earth.

They're really good with their side characters and design. I expect to see the Meeseeks again past just a background cameo in the future though.

The Mad Max stuff was a little uninspired to me, but I enjoyed seeing the kids deal with divorce. Armothy was great.

He already was. There was a Meeseeks in the background when they were at that arcade place.

Yeah, that was the background cameo I was referencing.

It would be kind of funny if Justin Roiland has never even tried the szechuan sauce and just inserted it as a random reference.

Watching the credits for the last episode and was surprised to see John DiMaggios. Had to go back and rewatch and was shocked at how small of a part he played.

They probably hired him for more than one episode. Keith David was in two episodes last season. This part might've been a "since we have you in the booth anyway..." type thing.

There's only 5-6 guys and 3-4 women that do 90% of cartoon voices, anyway. I'm sure he was probably hanging around playing poker.

Re: Rick and Morty - Season 3

The Mad Max stuff seemed cliche until they got to the part where Rick "civilized" them and they started living in the suburbs. And the divorce stuff is pretty dark. I have to say this is one of the better uses of sci-fi, to show how people are dealing with "normal" issues.

Yeah, while it didn't have huge laughs, the more I think on this episode, the more brilliant it was.

The funniest bit for me was the post-credits sequence with Jerry and the wolf.

Re: Rick and Morty - Season 3

I would have preferred it if the family therapy had been the A story.

The Rick/Beth dynamic is by far the most messed up but they've barely explored it.

Re: Rick and Morty - Season 3

Starts off being appearing to be a dumb story about Rick being a pickle but it escalated quickly right away.
I almost wrote it off at the beginning but jeez after the cat appeared, wow.

It was great.

This season has also been much more bloody and violent.

Re: Rick and Morty - Season 3

I thought the episode was a little boring. Pickle Rick doing his thing against the rats was cool, but the therapist stuff didn't do much for me and the Pickle fighting got old.

Re: Rick and Morty - Season 3

Rick did say it's the darkest season yet.

The therapy stuff was the best part for me - it was pretty hard-hitting, and the way Beth blew her kids off and their feelings - almost too real. She really is her father's daughter.

Re: Rick and Morty - Season 3

I also like Morty's growth over the series. Like, Morty is so over Rick's bullshit. Season 1 Morty would have been amazed or scared or something at Rick turning himself into a pickle. Now he's just like, "Dude, really?" He's starting to see through Rick's masks.

Watching Morty's resentment of Rick build is one of the more interesting parts of the show for me, hitting home during the last therapy scene. You can tell Morty still cares for Rick (or at the very least, Morty's good nature leads him to helping Rick regardless of the consequences), but also feels trapped and helpless to do anything about Rick's more destructive behaviors.

Rick might be able to beat a sewer full of vicious rats and a consulate full of foreign black ops agents, but a half decent therapist knows how to disarm and defeat him instantly.
