Stranded with a Million Dollars (MTV)

Anyone else watching this show on MTV? It's an interesting take on the stranded on a deserted island reality genre. A group of people are stranded on an island. All filming is done with drones or robotic cameras. They can make purchases for survival supplies. Example a tent is $30,000 and a pizza is $10,000, but the money comes out of the groups 1 million dollar prize pot.

I watch this and while it's pretty good, it could use some improvement.

For example, they need more challenges. Only one challenge so far (the water bucket one). I recommend, by winning challenges, you can earn a void ticket at the next Group Buy. So if the majority rules team wants to buy a $30k pizza, the person who has a void ticket can block the purchase.

40 days. They have to move locations every 4 days. They have a certain amount of time to make the journey to the new location example 3 hours for a 7K trek through the jungle, if they don't make it in time they lose $100,000.

They definitely need to tweak some things. But I think the premise is enough of a twist on the survival show trend to keep it interesting.

Anyway, glad to see the bullies (the four idiots with zero survival skills) dropping like flies. Those fuckers got on my nerves with their ridiculous spending and freezing out Cody and Makani.

I don't mind them getting tents. Having to move every four days makes it really difficult to build quality shelter.

Considering what MTV puts their game show reality players through, the prize money never seems enough after you have to share it.

Really enjoyed seeing the insufferable glampers...suffer. Watching their delusional and bizarre lack of even basic critical thinking skills the past few weeks was finally rewarded. Bye-bye Mean Girls group, you are now reaping what your soft minds and bodies have sown.

Apparently when it comes to his "ride or die" Gina, Alex chose "die" when he abandoned her to the surf (only to be drug ashore by Cody).

Alex is such a weasely loser. That whole foursome was so weak willed. Tens/hundred thousand on the line and you can't just STFU and gut it out for a few weeks.

Alex and Gina are horrible people. They don't get their way so they steal food from Cody and Makani after not letting them eat any of the pizza, sub sandwich, or burgers they bought... They finally get a taste of their own medicine and can't handle it. They need to show more challenges. I wonder if they have had them at every different campsite and just didn't show them?

Kinda wish someone would delay making it to the next location and cost them 100k or at least use the threat to gain some advantage with the group later. I would be the dick that knew he was going home then just took a seat short of the new location just to cost them money.

Re: Stranded with a Million Dollars (MTV)

The latest temptation was great. Nice reset for Cody and Mikani.

That challenge seemed impossible though. Didn't seem like there was a chance that you could get all $75k.

Re: Stranded with a Million Dollars (MTV)

I gotta say that Cody went from my most hated at the beginning of this show to my most liked. Mikani has been awesome from day one. She seemed a little flighty at first but I have grown to really like and respect her.

Anyone completely surprised that Cody hasn;t made any sexual comments or moves on Mikani the entire time? In this day and age of reality TV, it blows my mind.

It was nice to see them finally get to a position of power after being surrounded by such shitheads for so long. But next week's promo appears that it is going to make me really irritated
Spoiler:
Alex tearing money because he and what's her name don't get their way.

I saw the Alex guy on twitter and it appears he hasn't learned anything from rewatching the shows. I always wonder what people think after watching the show for the first time if they see how they come across and admit to it (if they acted like a jerk).

This show is better than Survivor at the moment.

I was wondering about that too. I at least thought Cody would have made a joking comment and asked Mikani to be his "date" for the temptation.

To be fair, these reality shows are always edited in ridiculous ways, so it wouldn't surprise me if he did mention that before and the producers are avoiding a romance "storyline".

Did anyone else notice the statement in the credits that stated that no actual currency was burnt or defaced? So I guess they have fake money? It looked pretty realistic in the shots I saw though I wasn't paying close attention to it.

It is illegal to "fraudulently alter, deface, mutilate, impair, diminish, falsify, scale, or lighten any of the coins coined at the mints of the United States, or any foreign coins which are by law made current or are in actual use or circulation as money" within the United States.

Re: Stranded with a Million Dollars (MTV)

I had a feeling it was never real cash when the show first started. The reason - taxes

Though I didn't doubt if you don't bring the money to each location, you will lose it. I believe it was mentioned several times. Never thought that destroying it would negate the pot as well. Never crossed my mind that anyone would do that!

Reaction to the April 18th episode:

Damn, Cody and Mikani are savage (polluting the water).

I like that there are more challenges now.

I can't even imagine how Alex and Gina are surviving with no food and barely any water. I would probably die in those nasty conditions haha

Re: Stranded with a Million Dollars (MTV)

Okay, for some reason, my DVR didn't record the episode where Alex was tearing up the money. I heard in this most recent episode that he tore up $65K. What made him stop tearing?

Pretty bitch move by Gina carrying only 3 pounds and refusing to carry the flare case.

And just when I was starting to like Cody, the guy goes and shits in an already dangerous looking water hole while not allowing them to use the water pot? Holy cow! This show has seriously become Lord Of The Flies.

There is a thing as going too far and actually trying to give someone e coli is probably the line.

I have no doubt they would all torture or kill each other if the camera weren't there.

Alex & Gina stopped tearing (and burning) the money when Cody & Mikani still refused to purchase food for them (refused to do a majority vote during the Group Buy).

Alex and Gina were surprised their plan didn't work. I'm not even getting any of that money and I had that sick feeling in my stomach of seeing thousands of dollars being wasted. Ouch!

And to see that $100k wasted due to stubbornness. $100k!!!!

Re: Stranded with a Million Dollars (MTV)

And if they intend to stick it out to the end they pissed away over $40k of their own money - each. And for what exactly? Alex is as dumb as a box of rocks, and the girl is utterly dependent on him to think for her with his feeble mind.

Not sure why Cody didn't just tell team vAlgina they crapped in the water. Might have had even better results without the fuss of doing it.

Thanks for the recap since MTV's recap sucked.

I am impressed Cody and Mikani held their ground. Alex and Gina cracked me p how they talked about how bad they were being treated and how awful Cody and Mikani are...when they were doing the exact same shit to them just a few days prior when they had the numbers on their side.

Also pretty funny that they can't even flare out and have to build a fire if they want to exit. Plus they can't make any orders whatsoever now due to leaving the fun. Alex and Gina are pretty fucking stupid as far as I have seen.

And please explain how Mikani stays so hot looking in that environment. Very impressive!

Re: Stranded with a Million Dollars (MTV)

I think pooping in the water was extreme, but Alex and Gina were terrible to them when they had the numbers. I agree that Alex and Gina not carrying the flare case really hurt them. I'm really interested in seeing if Alex and Gina can last three more days. I also really hope they do another season of this show. The ratings aren't great, but it's been entertaining.
