I didn't like the first season that much.
So Dracula was originally a good guy, but it was the evil Christian church that caused all this shit? Fits in with modern attitudes towards organized religion, in particular Christianity and the Catholic church. And the Belmonts were persecuted by the Church because they were magic users?
I mean it makes sense considering the historical corruption in religious institutions, and this makes the story less black and white.
But it just feels weird considering how the original games were, and the source material. I always thought in the original games that the Belmonts were Christian, because even the some of the weapons of the original games were Bibles and crucifixes. I think it was in later games where they changed it up to have the Belmonts be descendants of magicians or something.
Trevor's too-cool-for-school personality was cliched and eye-roll inducing. And he's supposed to be some guy who's wandering the land, doesn't know where or when he'll find his next meal, but he's healthy, muscular and clean shaven?

Finished up the second season. I didn't think it was as strong as the first, with a lot of time spent on Dracula and his generals that I really didn't care much about; Hector and Isaac were ok, but Godbrand was annoying and I felt like all their time could have been cut in half. There was far too little of Trevor/Sypha/Alucard in the first half of the season, and really didn't pick up until the last 3 episodes with them. To me, they're all much more appealing to watch.

I thought it was enjoyable. Isaac easily dispatching Godbrand made more sense after I learned how powerful Forgemasters are.

Castlevania returns for a season full of psychedelic horror. Raise hell March 5 - only on Netflix.

Wish I still had Netflix. Read a review that said some of the stuff that happens in season 3 is full on bonkers and "you are not prepared for what you'll see"

Started watching it (after I re-joined Netflix), and so far it's good. And Saint Germain is in this?? Talk about an obscure character from Curse of Darkness coming back from the dead.

There's no rhyme or reason seemingly to Netflix having a "previously on" summary for a prior season. I'm going to have to read a quick season 2 summary before I continue watching season 3. There's a season 1 recap on Netflix, but no season 2.

That was odd that there wasn't any recap to this. Made the first episode a bit harder to just jump into.
Something else I caught - Lance Reddick doing a voice in this! I thought that was pretty cool.

It started slow, but the season did get stronger as it went. Overall I enjoyed it, but I do agree that the Alucard stuff was...something. There was definitely foreshadowing where it was headed with those two. They have set the pieces for an interesting season 4. Let's hope they can deliver.
I did find Germain's dream sequence to be really well done, and I liked the 4 vampire sisters. Isaac's scenes were all good as well.

Just wrapped up season 3 and it blows away the first 2 seasons. The whole season had a Game of Thrones vibe to me.

Just binged 2 and 3.
2 set up some awesome characters and ended with quite a bang. 3 kinda spread out a bit, but the final battle in Lindenfeld was worth it. I'm still enjoying the journeys of Isaac and Hector, but the thing with Alucard was just weird.
Sexy, but weird.

Just finished Season 4, had a lot to cover but I think they gave everyone some sort of closure but I wasn’t expecting that one character to go bad like that.
A great ride, glad to see networks embracing mature (not porn) animation.

I hope it's good as the first show. Wife and I powered through all those episodes, that shit was right up our alley. Video games, vampires, blood, sex, magic. It had everything.

Sadly, it's not. Right from the first scene, we're bombarded with cliche writing.
And that's just the first scene. Yet somehow the first episode is all downhill from there. Can't say I can force myself to watch the rest of the season.

I was going to try and get back into it, but that first scene annoyed me as well. I think I stopped watching somewhere in episode 2 because I was tired, and I have little motivation to get back into it. I miss the old Belmont.

It's definitely not as good as the first series but I don't think it's bad. I finished the series and it's OK. Definitely gets better but the season is all a setup for the future.

I'm on episode 6 and I'm really enjoying it. It's way better than the first season or 2 of the original series. The original series didn't really hit it's stride until the last 2 seasons. And like mentioned above this season is a lot of setup for new characters and time period.
