Re: The Magicians (SyFy) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 1/25/17

Great news on the renewal. Last episode was pretty eventful.

Spoiler:
Son of the Trixster god got killed, Persephone appeared, Quintin resurrects Alice, Penny got into the Poison Room and Quintin found Umber.

I thought it was odd that Alice was pissed at Quintin for bringing her back when as a Niffin she herself was looking into how to regain her shade.

So this week's episode was really good. Didn't I say that Umber was probably still alive? I'm surprised they didn't ask him to help take out Reynard.

I definitely did not see the goddess Julia and her friends were trying to summon as being Reynard's mother.

They have a god-bullet now. I wonder what they'll do with it? (Ember?)

So what exactly is Alice now? Does she have a shade?

Human? I'm guessing the feeling of guilt and remorse can be overwhelming. I wonder if anything is stopping her from Niffing out again.

I thought the whole point of that ceremony was to "reintegrate" her shade? Then Mayakovsky gave that long lecture of the benefits of being human.

I thought that at first until she said she can't do magic right now.

The professor said Alice is like a newborn again in terms of magic and must relearn it.

Re: The Magicians (SyFy) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 1/25/17

This show really deserves a new topic for each episode.

Holy shit, that was an amazing episode from beginning to end. The intro with Ember was cracking me up.

OK, so they kill off Ember and Umber- I thought for sure they were going to shoot Ember with the god bullet, but that didn't pan out. Now the old gods are pissed and turn off all magic (apparently for Humans only) - but, why does Julia still have power? It must have something to do with being impregnated by Reynard. Will Julia defend Fillory from the fairies?

The only thing bad now is that we'll have to wait a year to find out.

Re: The Magicians (SyFy) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 1/25/17

I didn't expect them to end magic completely. Is Penny still dying or did that woman cure him? I'm guessing he was magically cured before they ended magic. Will Margo's eye ever get restored? She took it better than I expected.

Why do I get the feeling that Quentin and Julia will end up being the new gods of Fillory when all is said and done?

Loved it when Ember was encouraging viewers of the show to smoke some weed. They clearly know their audience.

Good news, the second season's Blu-ray set has been announced. The choice of character on its cover makes one wonder if the home video people in charge of that decision actually watch the show.

I have not seen season 2 yet. Still working my way to finishing season 1. I have a few more left to watch on the BD.

Question, like season 1, did the broadcast version have noticeable audio drop outs whenever an F bomb was dropped? Wondering if the season 2 BD will also be an uncut version.

Syfy was bleeping less and less cursing as the season wore on. I'm pretty sure a couple of them slipped through near the end of the season.

It got almost comical how bad the bleeping was to bleeps completely before the word and after or just missing completely.

Re: The Magicians (SyFy) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 1/25/17

Just about done with the second to last episode as I realized I needed to catch up because the show comes back in a couple of weeks. It is fantastic, and yeah as others have noted they way the cut things off when Fuck comes out of a characters mouth is hilarious because it totally sounds like they are saying Fuck.

Out of all the Syfy shows that I enjoy, ones like Znation, The Expanse, Ghost Wars, and to a lesser degree Superstition, this show always felt like it was several notches better than the channel it is on, if folks get what I am trying to say. From the moment the very first episode ended I was like whoa...this is a great show, and I always felt that this show and maybe The Expanse would not feel out of place on a premium cable channel like HBO or Starz.

I only watch it on Netflix and it seems like they're doing a lot more cursing.

The Magicians is easily the best written show on the entire network. There was a brief period when Syfy, attempting to recover their brand with fans after the low-rent Sharknado era, wanted to produce quality scripted content as a loss leader.

It seems they've decided on a strategy of mixing a few prestige projects with a variety of cheaper fare like Ghost Wars (which I like in its own cheesy way).

I've been watching "Happy!" on SyFy, and they let the "F" word and it's 12-letter variation fly free (as well as all manner of R-Rated content).

Yeah, USA Network stopped bleeping Mr Robot, and FX does not bleep any more so I would assume they wont bleep the next season of Magicians. I need to catch up on Happy
