Supergirl (S2E09) -- "Supergirl Lives" -- 1/23/17
MONDAY, JANUARY 23
SUPERGIRL
"Supergirl Lives" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, V) (HDTV)
KEVIN SMITH DIRECTS; ROULETTE RETURNS - Kara (Melissa Benoist) is moved by the story of a missing woman named Izzy (guest star Harley Quinn Smith) and decides to investigate despite Snapper Carr's (guest star Ian Gomez) order to leave it alone. Kara takes Mon-El (Chris Wood) with her to the last place Izzy was seen and the duo find themselves thrust through a portal to another planet, Slaver's Moon, where the downtrodden are sold as slaves. The leader of the trafficking ring is none other than Roulette (guest star Dichen Lachman). To make matters worse, Slaver's Moon has a red sun, which means Kara and Mon-El are stripped of their powers and stuck on the planet with no way home. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Alex (Chyler Leigh) blames herself for Kara's disappearance, fearing she's become too focused on her new relationship with Maggie (guest star Floriana Lima) and too complacent in watching out for her sister. Kevin Smith directed the episode with story by Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Eric Carrasco & Jess Kardos (#209). Original airdate 1/23/2017.

No Jay but Harley Quinn was featured in it. She was ok until the scene where she reunited with her mother on the show and that was REALLY bad acting. I mean take you out of the show and realize she is only in the episode because her dad is directing bad. And i thought she was ok in Yoga Hosiers for the most part.

Meh episode. I do like the that there seems to be a bigger back story to Mon El and the invaders

Mon-El said Daxam bought slaves there. The alien probably remembers Mon-El being a member of the Daxam royal house's staff. Why he would still show deference now that Daxam is rubble is unclear.

Like a lot of "Supergirl" stories, there was so much business with the supporting characters that the main story felt undercooked. The disappearance of one girl just happens to get to the attention of Kara and just happens to lead to Urbanik's alien scientist which happens to lead to Roulette, which leads to an alien world with a red sun, but we also have Alex's relationship issues, and the Jimmy/Winn/Guardian situation.

Melissa Benoist was at the Women's March Saturday and held up a sign, "Hey Donald Trump, you can't grab my pussy cause it's made of steel!"

I will say though I can get through these episodes in thirty mnutes now since I fast-forward through anything with cosplay Jimmy and Alex Danvers in Lesbian World.

This was the first episode where I felt Alex's relationship was completely pointless and a waste of screen time. An odd choice to heavily feature that storyline coming right out of the winter break.
This episode reeked of a poor (is there any other kind?) Smallville script. Which pains me to admit, because I really loved Supergirl under a red sun and Alex using a yellow-sun grenade. The rest felt shallow.
It was funny Winn was worried about being the red shirt on the alien planet. Though this planet's natives must have been the weakest slave-traders in the galaxy if Winn could take one out on his own.

Oh well, I thought this was one of their better episodes. The side stories were actually well played out this time and the main "red sun" story was fun to watch. Loved seeing Roulette again and having Mon El's story being more than I first thought.
The only character/story they should dump immediately is the replacement for Cat. Either retool it yet again or bring Cat back more often. Which is saying something given how much I often thought the Cat scenes brought down the show. There should be a Flockhart meme with her saying "Miss me yet?"

Meh episode. Guffawed out loud with Winn's "Red Shirt" reference. Mon-El saying "grife" was also a high point.

Not really my favorite Supergirl episode this season. Some decent scenes with Kara and Mon-El together, but other than that it was mostly forgettable.

Hah haha. Yep
This is what I did.
Wynn was such a cry baby in this ep and that terrible secret voice thing that jimmy used as guardian. Just stop it.
Worst ep of the series for me.

The Guardian storyline is a waste of time. Dump James Olsen entirely. He adds nothing to the show. I like the actor and the character, but he's dead weight here.

While I know another that's making a big deal about Kara and James not being a thing. Don't care either way. Of course this person tends to focus on couples for some reason.

Ok Ep. I'll say it again, though I'm not bothered by the lesbian stuff...its plays like an ep of "Grey's Anatomy". it's the same back and forth, will she, won't she, turmoil stuff they do on that show.
