Re: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FXX) -- Season 12 Thread -- premieres 1/4/16

Season 12 is off and running with 2 bonafide classics - this one being easily in my top 5 eps. Loved seeing Dennis with the con artist kid and Mac's obsession with the pool drain killed me - his line when they passed that kid over him and Dee had me laughing so hard I had to pause the episode "No matter how alluring it is don't put your genitals or butthole anywhere near the pool drain".

Yeah, fantastic episode this week. What was great about it is everyone shined. Dennis and the con artist. Dee and Mac stuck in the slide. Charlie and Frank and Aids.

Hearing the squeaking noise the dry slide made when Frank went down it made me cringe, yet at the same time was hilarious. Great ep.

2 for 2 to start the season as this was a great episode.

The best exchange was Charlie saying Frank had 'gay' Aids and Frank countering that he's got the 'Vagina' Aids.

And Dennis looking at the little girls heavy mom, "That's a disappointing glimpse into your future."

I couldn't stop laughing at the sound of every kid plowing into Dee and Mac.

I haven't laughed this hard with a show in a long time. These 2 eps. were absolute gold. I lost it when Frank went down the last slide bare. "There's aids blood in this pool!" All stories hit on every cylinder in each ep. That musical premiere was an instant classic.

I'm glad to see everyone love this episode as much as I did. Last week's was funny, but it felt off to me, like they were playing it safe. You don't play it safe yelling "I've got AIDS, but not the gay kind!"

And getting a woman to look like the JAWS mom...literally less than 10% of the audience got that joke, but I fucking loved it.

The first eps was fair to bad. (A pale imitation of previous musical episodes)...The 2nd? Classic. Best Sunny in a few seasons for sure.

I've been down on Sunny the past few seasons. Just seemed to me they were out of ideas. These eps were classics and I will rewatch...

Yea. Wasn't bad, but nowhere on the same level as the first two.

AVClub mentioned how it's commentary on how much harder their job is without a laugh track -- managing to get a funny scene out of something that could very easily come off as disturbing. Makes sense.

Not as funny as the Waterpark, liked it better than the musical. Strong season so far.

Dennis inserting the laugh track and the music throughout the episode actually made Mac & Charlie's mom's life more interesting.

I have to say the actress who plays Dee can pull off physical comedy all the time on this show. I always thought women had a tougher time then men with physical comedy because of the double standard, but her shitting her pants was

I knew what the episode was getting at, but it still was mostly a miss for me. I loved the first two episodes, but this one just didn't resonate with me. Maybe it was that damn laugh track... :-)

I don't think this episode was supposed to be hysterically funny like last week at the Water Park Episode, as this was more of a rift on Traditional TV and the only way they can get laughs anymore is with the laugh track.

That is why I dare say that this episode and the 1st episode where they all turn black is brilliant writing, because there is an underlying irony to the humor that the critics miss. Most critics would say this is just a dumb show, with dumb writing and dumb characters, but there is more to many of these episodes then just humor.

As I said I started to laugh more at Mac/Charlies' mom's when Dennis inserted the laugh track, and then it hit me where they were going with in this episode.

Still need to watch last weeks episode, but holy shit was tonight hilarious. First Frank with the f bomb, followed by Charlie with the N bomb. That's when the floodgates really opened. Never thought I'd see the day that a C bomb drops multiple times on cable tv.

I was surprised at all of that as well, see you next tuesday and cock sucker are rarities.

I don't know how Rob McElhenney kept a straight face on that bike.

I was kind of wearing thin on every episode this season being so far removed from just them in the bar, but there have been some real winners this year.

Yes, instant classic. I laughed a ton during the "Hero or Hate Crime" episode.

I give them credit this year as they are going after every taboo, yet not in a cheap way. That is sort of the brilliance of the show in that it seems like it goes to the gutter every chance it gets, but it is more a reflection of society.

Frank putting the mirrors on his toes, "It's real windy out today!"

Dennis making an investment in the young girl by having Dee tip her everyday is classic creepy Dennis

Mac, "My glutes are killing me!"

Woah - I think that was the first time I heard the C-word on non-pay TV. Also, was that the first time they said "fuck" on the show?
