I've enjoyed Abigail Spencer in most of her work. She's great in Rectify, and the other things she did that were released two years ago were also particularly memorable.

I assume this is a reference to Burning Love and Oz the Great and Powerful.

The premise for this show reminds me of Voyagers, which I loved as a kid (but I doubt it would hold up today).

Rewatched Voyagers last year. It doesn't.

The premise of each episode centered around a different historical event reminds me of Time Tunnel.

Really looking forward to this. They promoted it a lot between the Olympics and football so I expect NBC's expectations are high.

I purposefully avoided Sepinwall's review - he and I haven't been on the same page as of late. I'd like to go into this without any colored opinions.

This show got NBC's highest advertising budget among their new shows. It was priority #1 during the Olympics. They definitely have high expectations for it.

The effects and acting of Voyagers may not hold up, but I'm surprised no one has tried to re-imagine it.

Liked it enough to watch more. The 'rules' of time travel are dumb though. I'm sure it would be very easy to avoid yourself. Lucy and Wyatt could have done the 5 minutes before he stole the ship thing because they weren't at that location until well after it was stolen.

I really enjoyed this. The character intros were too fast though, and I would have setup the time travel after the second commercial break (instead of the first). Just needed about 10 minutes more setup time.

But overall, I'm digging the show. Can't wait for episode 2!

Re: Timeless (S1E01) -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 10/3/16

I dug it and I was surprised by the big end reveal that there were repercussions which affected Lucy. Seemed so minor by letting the Hindenberg disaster fall back 1 day. (even though 30+ people did survive in the revised events) Nice to see Susanna Thompson (Mrs. Queen) as the mother.

Since they changed the present timeline after the events of the Hindenberg, I'm guessing the sister will be in limbo for awhile while they pursue Flynn.

Good start setting things up. Very cool seeing almost 2 polar opposites (Ryan and Kripke) collaborate on a science fiction series.

Re: Timeless (S1E01) -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 10/3/16

Pilot ep was ok... I'm not a huge fan of shows set in history, even if they are getting there by way of time travel. I did like that we saw instant modern day repercussions for changes made in the past. So that opens up a lot of story lines as far a past and present constantly changing.

I'll give it a few more eps..

I think it's going to end up being more alt-history drama than sci-fi but I'll wait and see.

Re: Timeless (S1E01) -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 10/3/16

I enjoyed this even though I think it moved a bit too fast. I also agree there's no reason why the time travelers couldn't try to capture Flynn and correct the timeline multiple times at the same historical event if they simply arrived earlier and earlier with each attempt. The special effects with the Hindenburg were decent but not photorealistic.

Re: Timeless (S1E01) -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 10/3/16

I liked this one.

The Soldier Wyatt Logan (Matt Lanter) was a little wooden, but the lead Lucy Preston (Abigail Spencer) was very likeable, the scientist, Rufus Carlin (Malcolm Barrett) was good. Glad to see they are not ignoring the obvious he sticks out in history.

Great start to the network Dramas this year, haven't been this interested in this many for years

I like it, but like its poor predecessor Time Tunnel it appears we're going to go to the usual places--Lincoln's assassination and other events that many time travel movies and shows go to.

I liked this show better when it was called Voyagers!

Did I misunderstand this? I thought it was more than moving the time of the disaster. My understanding was that the first time 30 or 40 people died and the second time only two. That would leave 30+ people running around and potentially changing the timeline.
