Blindspot (NBC) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 9/14/16

"BLINDSPOT"

"IN NIGHT SO RANSOMED ROGUE" ORIGINAL

09/14/2016 (10:00PM - 11:00PM) (Wednesday) : JANE BECOMES A TRIPLE-AGENT - - After escaping from CIA custody, the team recaptures Jane (Jaimie Alexander) and convinces her to become a triple-agent within her old terrorist organization where she unlocks some major secrets from her past, while recent betrayals from both sides threaten to tear her and the team apart for good. Also starring Sullivan Stapleton, Rob Brown, Audrey Esparza, Ashley Johnson, Ukweli Roach, Luke Mitchell, Michelle Hurd and Archie Panjabi. Guest starring Dylan Baker. TV-14 V

Premieres Wednesday night at 10pm. However, it will move to Wednesdays at 8pm next week.

If you missed any of season 1, the entire season is available on Hulu. If you're interested and have the time to catch up, I do recommend watching the last 8-9 episodes of last season. The storyline ties in together and the season ends on a pretty major cliffhanger.

After a rocky 1st half, I thought season 1 finished really strong. I know some here didn't make it to the end.

Glad that some shows are still starting mid-September. Seems they're starting later and later each year.

Looking forward to this season.

Yeah. I was surprised when I saw an ad that said this was starting "tomorrow". Everything else seems to be starting later this month. It is nice that a show that I am actually looking forward to is starting at what was the normal time years back.

Wonder how extensive Archie Panjabi's role will be this season. (She was great in her previous role as Kalinda).

re: Blindspot (NBC) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 9/14/16

Pretty good premier. Amazing how they fixed some gripes from last year simply by extending conversations and adding a few lines of dialogue.

I will say that must have been one of the most pathetic "previously on" recaps I've ever seen. What makes the situation worse is a more comprehensive recap was actually needed!

I thought the dirt bike chase was pretty neat. Good misdirect too.

They were quick with answering who Jane is and tying in some faces from last year.

A mole...the entire time!?...:gah:

re: Blindspot (NBC) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 9/14/16

Pretty solid 1st episode.

Lots of questions answered and we finally found out Jane's backstory including the brother and mother. Nice to see Grover's wife from Hawaii Five-O play the villainous mother.

Go figure there will be another mole in the FBI.

Looks like Archie Panjabi (Nas) will become the new leader of this team for now. She's still sporting the Kalinda wardrobe from The Good Wife (especially the boots), but she's now speaking with her normal British accent.

I like that they've kept tension with Jane and Weller's relationship and not make things go back to normal so fast.

I hope they can keep things up with the format they're at right now. But, I'm sure they will revisit the tattoos soon.

She's a recurring guest star for now.

The creator of the show Martin Gero said this:

http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/t...on-2/90014586/

“I was a huge fan of The Good Wife, and just love what she did with the Kalinda character," says Blindspot creator and executive producer Martin Gero. "When we started to talk about Nas in the writers' room, Archie immediately came to mind. We wanted someone strong, insanely smart and incredibly sophisticated and alluring … so we wrote this character for her, and then somehow convinced her to actually do it" She'll appear in several episodes, but “we’d love her to stay as long as she likes,” Gero says.
Sounds like she will stay on as long as the story dictates needing her.

Great premiere! I love how this show gives answers to previous mysteries really quickly.

I liked how they recapped some of last season's storylines during the "lie detector" scene. It could have easily felt like a clip show segment, but they avoided that.

re: Blindspot (NBC) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 9/14/16

Great first episode. I was wondering if they would do that well enough for us to buy into this season. They did that far better than I imagined they would. Only fault is they are going with the same old "mole" story line. Hopefully that resolves sooner than later and we can move on to something more original.

She could be lying about being Jane's adoptive mother, and he her brother. They've lied to her before after all.

re: Blindspot (NBC) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 9/14/16

The DUI checkpoint scene was also awesome. The rain and gunshot audio were crisp. Only thing I would have changed was make it a single seamless continuous camera shot. It almost was, but there were a couple cutaways to Jane's face.

re: Blindspot (NBC) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 9/14/16

That actor playing Jane's brother certainly gets around network television. He's been switching shows practically each season the past few years. I doubt that woman really raised Jane as her mother. That smells like something that will eventually get retconned.

Blindshot definitely looks good for network television. I was surprised how crisp its video looked on Blu-ray.

Well, that was an interesting announcement at the end for Weller. I highly doubt that Allison will carry that baby to term. She will probably be killed off at a later time.

Overall, good follow up to last week. The rogue DEA agents and missile attack made an interesting case in addition to the continuing tension in the team.

Good episode all around. I do feel like the "mom" character is super creepy though. I'm not familiar with the actress.

Very weird twist with Edgar. Maybe he's the mile and had his mind wiped too?

Re: Blindspot (S2E03) -- "Hero Fears Imminent Rot" -- 9/28/16

Do not understand this show!! For everything they do correctly or wrong, they follow up with something dumb.

Let's make one of our characters suddenly have traumatic child issues and then hide it! When actually he shares his feels with somebody in a logical manner the next episode.

The. Let's go crazy and have two people shoot a bomb to defuse it.

On a more serious note, interesting to have Jane's brother cover for him. The. Again we didn't see him lie to Roman. Maybe they are both playing her?

Do we think CIA lady knows there is a mole? Seems like she's after something specific by monitoring audio logs.

Should be interesting if Jane has to meet up with the rogue agent again. She may be willing to listen to him. He can't probably fill in some gaps.

DJariya 09-30-16 08:55 AM

Re: Blindspot (S2E03) -- "Hero Fears Imminent Rot" -- 9/28/16

 at Zapata and Reade shooting up that bomb. No government agency in their right mind would let their agents do something that crazy.

Other than that, I was fine with this episode. Went back to focusing on Jane and the struggles with her identity.

Not sure if it's just a Red Herring, but they kind of hinted that Borden may be hiding something, especially after Patterson heard him speak Arabic and he denied it. Could he be the mole?

Also they've sort of teased that Reade may have had a pretty dark past (being subject to molestation presumably?)

The question is whether she miraculously avoids hearing Borden speak Arabic. His lying about it guarantees Patterson investigates and gets herself in trouble, it's how TV shows always go.

About 80% filler episode. What a stupid case of the week.

Jane Doe can tag along. Jane Doe can't tag along. Ok, she can. No, she can't. Every episode.

Nothing much to talk about in this episode. Mostly filler case of the week with some light touches of the overall Sandstorm plot.

Jane's sword fight with the rogue CIA agent/assassin was pretty cool though.

The stuff with Jane's brother & adoptive mother talking about the water poisoning/sicknesses & how they want to see revenge felt very PSA-like/preachy.

Looks like Reade is starting to lose it. That guy he was stalking at the end is the molester I presume.

Lake Aurora is in the U.S. and it's the U.S. government that looked the other way to the pollution/poisoning, which is part of the reason they're giving for why they're against the government. It's what's causing Jane so much conflict. She agrees the government has done bad things, but without her memories, she's no longer convinced the Sandstorm way is the way to handle it. Then again, she's also not sure it isn't.

Reade is well past starting to lose it. They've shown the old coach before. Yes, that's who he's stalking.

Re: Blindspot (S2E04) -- "If Beth" -- 10/5/16

If anybody feels the now revealed motives for Sandstorm are silly/preachy, probably best to just bail now. Seems like a legit (in Hollywood) rationale that would explain the why some otherwise good people like Jane would do bad things.

The Reade thing is becoming an unwelcome distraction. Hopefully it wraps up soon. And if it's like the gambling story line last season, it will work it's way into the larger plot in some way.

 I caught that as well.

Any thoughts on Jane's family not actually being her family? Seems like something fishy is going on. The "brother" does geniuinely seem to care for her, but the mom has a very devious untrustworthy vibe.

Orphans raised as killing machines/secret agents/etc. always seemed a bit too comic book for this show. I'd like to see her with a more mundane background.

Pretty good episode. Some intense scenes.

I don't buy it that the FBI doesn't have secure tech rooms that require key cards for entrance. And someone like Robert can just walk right in. My job/building requires key cards and there are certain places my key card can't access (i.e.: the service elevators, facilities maintenance room, etc). I'd think the FBI building would be more secure than the one I work at.
