Last few years, I stopped watching Always Sunny week to week and just go through them all at once. I'll probably do that for the latest season sometime soon.

Daredevil Season 2 (likely due to inertia of having to switch from TV to our PS4 to run Netflix )
The Night Manager

Unless you're a child or a teacher don't know why you would need to save up shows for the summer time.

Teacher here.

I don't have a DVR, but planning on getting caught up on following this summer:

Daredevil seasons 1 and 2
Jessica Jones
Silicon Valley seasons 2 and 3
The Goldbergs' entire run
Black-ish (all eps.)

Re: Shows you have saved up and are catching up over summer ?

Doctor Who, -the most recent season
The Magicians
Last Kingdom
Knick Sn 2
The Affair Sn 2
Penny Dreadful Sn 3
Banshee Sn 4
Beowulf
Outlander, -current season
Strange and Norrell
The Outsiders
Honestly, I'm not sure about "The Last Kingdom", "Beowulf", or "The Outsiders", -they're just sitting on the DVR and I really should just make up my mind about them. Then there's all those things on Netflix and Amazon.

There's less shows to watch in the summer?

Re: Shows you have saved up and are catching up over summer ?

I have this season of The Americans and a few episodes of Bates Motel, Banshee and The Flash that I will for sure watch. I've got a few episodes of Legends of Tomorrow, half a dozen episodes of Nashville and 18 episodes of Once Upon a Time that I might watch or may just delete.

As for other shows, I bought the first three seasons of Orphan Black and want to finally watch season 2 of Daredevil.

And too many shows in the regular TV season. You don't have to be a teacher to use the summer to catch up on your shows.

Exactly. It's simple math.

For example: someone wants to watch 30 hours a week of shows in the regular season, but only has time for 15. Then in the Summer, there's only 3 hours of shows. That makes 12 hours per week to catch up on other stuff, which is a huge change from the regular Season.

Nothing to do with being a teacher or child, but everything to do with the dramatic decline in new programming.

I really enjoyed "The Last Kingdom." I would definitely give that one a try and see how you like it. It takes a little bit to get going, but it is well acted and has some great cinematography. I enjoyed it more than the last season and a half of Vikings, which has been a little bit of a letdown recently.

I'm about halfway through:

Better Call Saul: S2
Game of Thrones: S5
Smallville: S2 (watching with kids)

Then a couple I haven't started yet:
True Detective: S1
Orphan Black: S2

Video games(all the biggest games come out in the fall), books, hobbies, etc. TV isn't the only thing to do between Sept and May. Also during that time you have College Football, College Basketball, NFL and NBA. Shows get recorded in favor of live sports.

Those are all valid reasons that I hadn't thought of. I guess I watch tv and play games differently then most. I don't have a time of year where I have less to watch or I have no games to play.

London Spy
Underground
Vinyl (although the part of the pilot I saw was bad)
the rest of Mysteries of Laura
most of last season's Empire

I also need to catch up on streaming shows: Orange is the New Black season 3, and seasons 2 of Catastrophe, Kimmy Schmidt, Grace & Frankie etc.

Re: Shows you have saved up and are catching up over summer ?

last 2 or 3 episodes of Mr. Robot
Deutschland '83
Fargo season 2
2/3rds of The Flash season 2
The Last Panthers

I think that's all I have. Of course a good chunk of last year's back log got deleted in order to fit all of the above. So who knows whether I'll watch all of it. Also, throw me into the camp who has way more time to watch in the summer. The #1 reason is less sports.

That was my problem. I was out of town for work a lot in April and May so I had to purge the DVR of a lot of stored things just to record stuff that I was currently watching.

Me, I almost always have unwatched episodes of Elementary on my DVR since it's an uncomplicated watch. I also got sick of Castle, but since I watched the whole series I'll probably trudge through the last handful of episodes that I haven't watched.

While I deleted a lot of things I still have London Spy, Mercy Street, Mr Selfridge, Vinyl, and the rest of shows like the Knick, Banshee and Beowulf that I got about halfway through. And there is always on demand to pick up the last season of the Affair, Shameless, and Masters of Sex.

Plus, of the Netflix/Amazon shows I'm only current on Jessica Jones and the Man in the High Castle.

Re: Shows you have saved up and are catching up over summer ?

I'm debating among The Wire, Breaking Bad, and The Returned. First two via Blu-Ray, the last Blu-Ray/DVR.

I actually saw season 1 of The Returned on first airing, but that was standard definition (Sundance wasn't airing in HD at the time) and several years ago. Was thinking of re-watching season 1 before diving into season 2.
