I'll be honest and admit I mentally checked out as this episode went off the rails. It didn't strike the right tone after tens of thousands of people just died the past episode.

While Arrow hasn't been great television in a while, I've been mostly happy with this season up until this point. Whoever thought a critical scene of hackers "battling" each other would make for riveting drama must have run out of time or ideas.

Decent, but mostly forgettable episode. Basically it was Oliver and Diggle trying to rescue Thea. And reinforcement that Dahrk is an evil mad man.

I just realized that Felicity's Dad was just on The Detour on TBS a few weeks ago. He played some wacko Pedophile.

I'm so over Malcolm Merlyn. I'm ready for this show to kill him off. They really need to trim some more of the fat on this show and Malcolm is one of them.

The show needs a complete overhaul... which is very sad to me.

Malcolm is a case of the producers falling in love with an actor and wanting to keep him around. The character has served his purpose and keeping him in the cast all the time has really neutered him as a threat. It was such an empty threat when Thea threatened his life once again.

I pretty much agree. The last few episodes with the nuclear threat and this hidden city feel like they were just pulled from some other show. Its just far too big for the story or the show.

The stakes simply became too high for a guy that shoots arrows. That is why a villain like Deathstroke is so much better against Green Arrow.

I do kind of agree that this Dahrk end of days arc seems way out of Oliver and Team Arrow's league.

Same thought.

His powers are too far beyond what team Arrow should normally be able to handle....unless more happens with the other idol.

So I guess they forgot about those powers Oliver was trying to use/kind of used?

What was with all the lens flares in this ep?? Have they always been there or did JJ Abrams direct this episode?

When Anarky killed his wife, that was the most satisfying moment from this season without heroes from another show, and it was like a failure for our heroes.

Darhk was fun on this one. Everything else was just flat out terrible. Unless there is some major payoff reveal, this has been the worst series of flashbacks ever.

This set of flashbacks was mostly unnecessary and it feels like the producers were straining to pad it out. I'd hope that might convince them to drop them, but I read an interview with one of the producers who said that he feels the (purportedly) last set of flashbacks are the ones they're really looking forward to.

Maybe they're doing the flashbacks because the woman Oliver was with on the island is going to help them defeat Dahrk?

Most of the time the flashbacks seem aimless to me.

Re: Arrow (S4E22) -- "Lost in the Flood" -- 5/18/16

Even Lost, the inventor of the modern flashback storytelling narrative, gave up on flashbacks after three seasons. I understand some of this is a budgetary issue, as Arrow really can't go crazy with flashbacks changing week to week.

The only great flashback we've had since season two of Arrow was the recent episode that showed us a previously unseen moment between Laurel and Oliver in season one.

I don't care if Russia nukes a tiny city or a giant city in the US. This shit right there would literally cause World War 3!

Given the current state of politics, a nuclear warhead going off anywhere in the world would become the defining moment of that generation.
