Game of Thrones (S6E03) -- "Oathbreaker" -- 5/8/16

Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) meets her future. Bran meets the past. Tommen confronts the High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce). Arya (Maisie Williams) trains to be No One. Varys (Conleth Hill) finds an answer. Ramsay gets a gift.

Written by David Benioff & D. B. Weiss; directed by Dan Sackheim.

Episode 3 of 10

That's a pretty funky stab wound on his left pec. Someone really curved that knife blade! Fuck Olly!

I don't think Jon Snow is the Oathbreaker, since technically his watch has ended. If he leaves, he can't be accused of breaking the oath. Maybe it's Brienne, though I can't see her doing such a thing.

Maybe Arya decides to be Arya and not No One?

I'll be surprised if Jon Snow even shows up again before episode 4.

Tower of Joy....I wonder how many weeks before we get to go inside. Episode 3 seemed early to finally confirm or deny the long held fan theory.

They did a pretty good job hiding Nat Tena returning this year. I hadn't seen any confirmation of that.

Strange to have House Umber turn. Difficult to see that happening in the books.

Poor Shaggy Dog. I guess we're down to Ghost, Summer, and Nymeria (if the show ever decides to show her again).

I predict that Osha (is that how you spell this one's name) will either be the one who takes out Ramsay, or another one of his victims. Hope she doesn't go slow and painfully if it's the latter. Loved the sword fight with Ned and Dayne. Hope we get at least one scene of Robert's rebellion, but doubtful.

Loved the looks on Melisandre's face. It kind of said "This shit really does work." Olly was a defiant little shit until the end. Don't blame Snow for leaving. I think if I were in the military and got killed, then resurrected, I would take a "screw this" attitude as well.

Seems like Jon's the Oathbreaker not in the typical sense that he broke his oath, but rather he destroyed it by coming back from the dead so it does not apply to him.

I got a chuckle when she asked Snow what he saw ...

I guess he still knows nothing.

Another great episode, but I wanted to throw my wine glass when they cut away from the Tower of Joy. It's probably too soon, but I thought we were going to get a mother's day gift. Sigh.

No matter how Ramsay Bolton finally dies, it won't be nearly painful enough. He's the literal worst.

Same! She was all, "Well holy crap, it worked??!!" It was very well played by the actress.

Sad to see another direwolf go down.

Glad to see that Jon's watch has finally ended.

Re: Game of Thrones (S6E03) -- "Oathbreaker" -- 5/8/16

Rickon has to be the biggest age jump. He went from like 5 years old from the last time we saw him to 15 in this episode. Even though I recognized Osha, I was still like "who the hell is the kid"

Am I the only one who heard a fart when Maester Pycelle turned to look at Robert Strong? I rewound the scene and heard it again, so it was definitely in the show...

Also dug the flashback scene to Ned and the Tower of Joy.

Fuck Olly, the little shit. For half a second I thought Jon might have mercy on him. Glad he didn't.

It was in the Closed Captions.

It was definitely a fart. I had closed captions on and it was described as that.

He's an Atheist. There is nothing at the end. That's what I got out of it.

Olly was a little c*nt until the end. Pycell did shit his self.

Qyburn certainly has ears everywhere. He's sort of like Varis but instead of birds he has the childrens.

It was a good episode full of plotting, a nice battle, and several deaths.

So far, so good.

Those kids were Varys' little birds. Qyburn just made double agents out of them.

What the hell with that shitty conversation with greyworm, missandei, and tyrion? Jeezus Christ that was awful and then the Pycelle fart gag. This show is better than that shit.

The sword fight was awesome -- compare that to the shitty ass fight last year in dorne with bronn/Jamie v the sandsnakes which was godawful. Speaking of dorne -- no dorne again. That's 2 eps in a row. That's a plus.

Can't hate on olly. The wildlings murdered the fck out of his village and family. That shit sticks with you

Didn't seem right with Arthur fighting with 2 swords. He has Dawn which is made of Valyrian Steel. Is his offhand weapon just a plain castle made sword?

Weiss and Benioff may be the showrunners but they are completely hack writers. You can almost tell from episode to episode which ones they've written and which ones are by Hill, Cogman, Bayer, etc. Episode 2 was very clearly better-written, as far as dialogue is concerned, than this and the Premiere.

"He got stabbed in the back!"

No fucking shit.

Well his last appearance was in season 3 so he probably hasn't filmed since 2012. Apparently, the actor played the little brother last year in San Andreas. I did not make that connection when I saw that movie.

They're still better than Martin's been in his last few books.

Ah, birds was a metaphor for kids. Well played Qyburn.

That conversation was awkward, because one is an ex-slave and the other dude is an ex-slave-eunich. Of course it would be a stilted conversation.
