H2/Viceland

Did History just drop all of the programming which was on H2 when it switched to Viceland? I loved watching all the space shows. And I taped Ancient Aliens to use it as fodder at night. Something about that show which always helped me fall asleep when it was on.

H2 was probably my most watched channel overall. I haven't seen any of those series aired on normal History Channel since.

Yes, Vice took over that channel and now it's a 24/7 channel for Vice content.

H2 is officially closed.

A&E, who owned H2, bought a 10%, $250M stake in Vice Media.

Unfortunately people who want actual mentally stimulating TV are screwed these days.

Vice's content can actually be pretty good and stimulating. The show on HBO is excellent.

I haven't really had the time to watch Viceland yet.

Re: H2/Viceland

That sucks. I new Vice was a completely different channel (which I've yet to find a single program I'd want to watch) but I thought I saw that the H2 shows would continue on History.

I guess Science Channel is my last haven for all things outer space.

I used to be in agreeance with this, but their rather terrible website material has slowly gotten under my skin with time to the point where it's tainted my opinion of their other work, which can be quite good.

I'm sure I'll get over it.

I agree. I haven't watched Viceland at all but the commercials make me think it's more like the website than the HBO show and that's what has kept me away from it so far. They also had one story last season that made me question whether some things are staged for the HBO show.

Re: H2/Viceland

I saw the Vicelands Guide to Movies on Werner Herzog and Todd Haynes and they were pretty good.

I have the Tarantino episode saved.

It sucks but not as bad as VH1 dropping all music videos and music programming.

Sadly, as opposed to Viceland, it is.

Viceland is actually trying to find out what's below the bottom of the barrel for reality television.

No it's not, it's garbage. And all they do is repeat the same shit day after day.

Partly. I did like how it introduced me to mysteries like Golbelki Tepe and Pumapunku, but then I would do my own homework on them to find out the truth as opposed to the ridiculous conclusions Tsukalos and the others proposed.

Are you talking about Viceland or the HBO series that airs on Fridays?

Vice on HBO only airs once per week (with re-airs of course), 14 episodes per season. Viceland is just starting out and I've seen on the guide that they're repeating the same shows a lot.

Vice has been nominated for Best documentary series 3 years in a row at the Emmys.

The few things I've sampled on Viceland make it feel like a hipster version of Esquire.

Vice the channel. I swear it has run Ellen Page's "Gaycation" series every single day for over a week. Plus some dumb docus on obscure rappers, again, virtually every day. They have no content and what they have for content is junk. H2 certainly had its flaws with all the ancient aliens programming but you occasionally had good stuff, too.

Re: H2/Viceland

I have noticed the constant airings of Gaycation and the docuseries Weediquette. I watched a couple of episodes of Weediquette and it was a decent show.

Re: H2/Viceland

I'll miss H2, mostly because it would replay older History channel programming that never airs anymore on the main channel.

Re: H2/Viceland

FYI: Roku has a Viceland app now, so you can watch all the programs on there (which I do).

Apple TV as well.

Re: H2/Viceland

Viceland has some good shows

Hate Thy Neighbor where this UK comedian visits and hang out with racist groups from all across the globe is pretty fascinating and the Pizza Show is pretty good too.

Viceland Guide to Movies is another one.
