So Kim is from near the Nebraska/Kansas border? Not far from Omaha...can't be a coincidence, I think.

Man, at least from a reality point of view it was hard seeing them both turn down (or "quit" in Jimmy's case) amazing career opportunities, but I guess the show would be pretty boring if it followed real life. Sucks even more knowing it ends up backfiring for them both.

how do we know it backfirered for Kim?

nice to see the "true" story between Jimmy and his father, not Chuck's version

I'm surprised Kim didn't want that job - but I'm guessing it would still feel more of the same as before.

well she did want the job until Jimmy convinced her of just that, it would be more of the same just with a different boss ..... hence Kim mistakenly calling Rich Howard

Didn't expect Kim's decision there at the end.

Really enjoyed seeing all the things Jimmy did to get fired too

I first encountered Rhea Seehorn on that execrable Whitney show, and when it was finally laid to rest, I feared I'd never see her again.

we don't, I'm just guessing. But this is the Breaking Bad universe, you think Kim will just break up with Jimmy and disappear? Nah, something bad will happen. Not saying she'll be killed, but I bet she gets implicated in one of Jimmy's schemes.

This is a different show than Breaking Bad, I really don't think something "bad" has to happen to Kim just because they're in the same universe.

I was confused as to the timeline this episode. Kim tells Jimmy that her interview is in a couple days, then Jimmy goes on his kick to get fired, which seems to last a few weeks, what with the montage of all the suits he keeps changing into. Then he gets fired before Kim's interview, which means that all his shenanigans took place over just a couple days? Something's off.

From what I've seen so far, I'd think that the "transformation" from Jimmy to Saul would be halted if something horrible happened to Kim.

But I'd think that Kim breaking things off with Jimmy and moving away from ABQ would accelerate the transformation.

I'm glad Kim went to Jimmy, but she again hurt him by not wanting to be truly associated with the guy.

She kind of did it for herself more than partner up with Jimmy

I don't think it was a couple of days. She said her interview was next Thursday and we don't really know what day that conversation took place. That sort of implies that it was more than a week. How many suits did we actually see him wear? I didn't keep track.

So why was Mike back scoping out the taco shop?

My assumption is that the house was more expensive than he anticipated, so he's trying to figure out a way to make more money.

I see two options:

1. Mike knows he took a payoff and is looking for more to pay for the house, probably through "next-level work".

2. He is not happy about the entire scenario, especially given what Jimmy told him, and is after sinking their entire ship at one time.

Anyone else feel that Kim was being a little extra cagey about discussing her past and where she's from?

Re: Better Call Saul (S2E07) -- "Inflatable" -- 3/28/16

One of the best episodes of the series to date in my opinion. The cold open was good with showing Jimmy being introduced to the game of being a con man. Also loved everything with Jimmy intentionally getting himself fired from Davis & Main and seemingly the start of the more colorful persona that's going to evolve into Saul. I'll sort of miss the Omar character as he has a good dynamic with Jimmy. I almost expected Jimmy to offer him a job but I'm guessing the one he has is too secure for him and his family.

The stuff with Kim was great too. I sort of expected her to turn down the job from the other firm after Jimmy's proposal. He was right as she'd just be working for another HHM with a different boss and she needs to be her own person. Not sure if this is the best move for her overall as who knows what will eventually become of her reputation down the line and I can see why she wants to keep her practice separate from Jimmy but I think them working together to an extent makes sense. Also I agree with others about Kim seemingly holding back on her past during the interview scene. Curious what more might be there that she wasn't telling the partners.

Mike was also great as usual. I agree that he probably needs more money for the house for Stacey and Kaylee. I'm wondering what he has planned for the Salamanca clan and why he was staking out the Mexican restaurant.

Interesting point. I wonder if it's possible that Jimmy will have a happy ending to his story. Although from the cold opens we've seen thus far his life as Gene doesn't seem all that happy so I think it's a bit of a long shot that he'd ever get back together with Kim (assuming something will eventually happen to drive them apart and possibly send her back home).

It would be interesting if Kim's backstory were the reverse of Jimmy's, like if her family were a bunch of corrupt grifters, and she wanted to get away from that sort of thing and do more honest work.

Anyone else think Kim will walk into Saul's Cinnabon one day unaware he works there?

I cringed when he got his old car back. I laughed when he said something about the kidney foundation not accepting his donation (or something along those lines)

Come on guys, don't you remember that Kim's practice was also in the same strip mall as Saul's law practice.

Him doing his kind of law, her doing reputable things. Pinkman didn't suggest going into her office because they needed a "criminal" lawyer.

I didn't pick up on this initially, but it makes sense. Gives more explanation to the Omaha location.

I thought the Jimmy montage was great. I wouldn't expect flamboyant suit styles to be a mechanizm used to get fired, but it works in this case.

I also like Mike's subplot - his story is turning out to be a very plausible way of how he changed to the 'next level'.

I hope not. That would be the hackiest thing ever.
