Full Frontal with Samantha Bee (TBS) -- Series Discussion Thread
One of the most unique and visible comedic voices on television is coming to TBS in Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. Breaking up late-night's all-male sausage fest, this new show from the longtime Daily Show correspondent will feature Samantha's nuanced view of political and cultural issues, her sharp interview skills, her repartee with world leaders and much more.

I'm kinda relieved it's a weekly series. While I love Samantha Bee, I don't have the time to commit to another nightly talk show.

According to her, she wouldn't have wanted the job anyway:

It's interesting to think that, even as correspondents for The Daily Show, they were never on the show every single night; usually the show rotates through the correspondents, putting them on as they fit a certain bit.

Even if the timing had been different, Bee says she wouldn't have been interested in replacing Stewart. She and Jones have three children and family would've had to take a backseat if that had happened.
"As I'm sensing the difficulty of putting a show on once a week, I'm really not envious of having to do it four days a week," Bee said. "There's no mistaking the fact that Jon did it incredibly, but by the end he was exhausted. There's no part of me that wants to do it four days a week and never was. My family life is the most important thing to me. I think it would've destroyed that, so it was not a big consideration."

I thought it was a blast! Very funny at times. While I wouldn't want it nightly (humour dilution because writers spread too thin), I think an hour per week is warranted.

Overall it wasn't quite as good as I was expecting, but it was still good enough to keep watching. Now what Daily Show alum is gonna get a show on Tues night?

TBS has ordered an additional 26 episodes of Samantha Bee‘s late-night talk show, the network announced Monday. This gives the first season a total of 39 episodes, carrying it to the end of 2016.

That puts her season on par with Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (35 episodes a season). I wonder if it'll have a similar schedule: taking holiday weeks off, and then taking Dec/Jan off too.

I don't like the format.
would prefer she was behind a desk or a podium.
She looks awkward standing there and commenting.

Can I ask the fans of these type of shows, what is the appeal? It seems to me all she is doing is explaining a current event to the point where it makes the viewer look dumb because they don't follow the news?
Trust me, I hate Trump more then anyone else here and I know people like her are going to have a field day on him in the next 4 years. But I don't know what is so appealing about her rambling on about Trump for 30 minutes that we already don't know? It seems like it's no different then my idiot Conservative friends who watch Hannity every night to see him defend Trump, only Samantha Bee and John Oliver do the same in a more humorous fashion.

It's also funny, so even if I am already familiar with a given topic, I do appreciate the jokes.
Finally, they're editorial, so they're not just recapping, but putting a point of view on the topic, exposing hypocrisy and outright lies, providing historical context, etc.
Edit: Also, they're relentlessly fact-checked. I haven't watched much Hannity or O'Reilly, but they don't seem overly concerned with facts. The comedy shows may have a bias, but they're not completely divorced from reality like the other shows.

Jay G. summed it up well. I can see how this show in particular might nor appeal to very many people. She is awfully strident and high-strung, but since she's saying things I agree with (other than her blinkered support of Hillary over Sanders), I don't mind. What I also appreciate is the absence of guests. I don't care about some person hawking his latest book or movie. I want a full half-hour of pure satire and venom, and Full Frontal delivers.

Re: Full Frontal with Samantha Bee (TBS) -- Series Discussion Thread
TBS has issued its own statement regarding its swelling Samantha Bee controversy, which was ignited Tuesday night when the Full Frontal host referred to Ivanka Trump as the c-word. Bee has since apologized for the crack.
“Samantha Bee has taken the right action in apologizing for the vile and inappropriate language she used about Ivanka Trump last night,” the network said. “Those words should not have been aired. It was our mistake too, and we regret it.”
To recap: In a segment that aired on Wednesday’s Full Frontal, the comedienne referred to the First Daughter as a “feckless c–t” while attacking theTrump administration’s immigration policy, which allows for the separation of undocumented children from their parents (including those families that are legally seeking asylum).
“I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night,” Bee shared on Twitter on Thursday. “It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it.”
The White House slammed the remark early Thursday, with press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders demanding action be taken against Bee. “The language used by Samantha Bee last night is vile and vicious,” Sanders said. “The collective silence by the left and its media allies is appalling. Her disgusting comments and show are not fit for broadcast, and executives at Time Warner and TBS must demonstrate that such explicit profanity about female members of this administration will not be condoned on its network.”
