I am okay with davidh777's proposal.

I guess we could put it to a vote, but I'm not in favoring of drafting this game fantasy football style. You could change your mind though Winky when the last few players picked win the show. It's happened many, many times on here. I've personally found the Amazing Race game impossible to pick. I've had two teams a season in many, many rounds and have never won it....

I'd vote to keep the current method too.

To improve upon it, maybe for games with 2 drafts, have the 2nd draft at a different time of day so those who can't show up for one can choose the other.

I think the threads are up early enough to give us all plenty of notice to when the drafts will be and using the forum timestamps is as fair a method as any.

Re: The DVDTalk Survivor Game -- Spring 2016 Edition

Yeah, as Damfino said, when we started doing this, it was by everyone submitting their favorite picks in 1-18 order and then putting all submissions in random order and giving everyone as close to their top picks as we could. One season when I was the moderator, that's exactly how I did it.

But a lot of people didn't really like it and the biggest gripe is that there's no way to "see" the selection process. The way Damfino does it lets everyone see why they do/don't get someone. Yes, it can be inconvenient and slippery (I forget all the time, and have missed my favorite pick a lot), but in general it works.

But the big takeaway is what many people have said: You never know who's going to win. You can sometimes guess who likely has a much easier or harder chance, but you never know.

(Incidentally, the season I won it was with a pick that no one else wanted, so I took them as a secondary just to fill out the draft. Even I hadn't wanted them. So it's all a crap shoot.)

The bigger takeaway is that even if you don't get who you want, at least this way you have someone to root for. And to me, that makes watching the show all that more exciting.

The whole slotting-sending-assigning thing sounds like a PITA for the mod, frankly. And it'd be a pain for me just to slot them. :D

Last season I took Kelly Wentworth as my secondary, fill-in pick even though I didn't even remember who she was, and she went a heck of a lot further than my first pick.

I guess that is fantasy style. I'm so used to fantasy drafts I didn't even notice.

It's not really a science. I work at a tv station and our clocks here are very very accurate.

So that's how you do it! I've been synchronizing my PC, my cell phone, a stop watch and the forum clock and I still can't beat you on draft night!

I've drafted from home and had success too. The main problem is figuring out the delay between your pc clock and the forum clock. I had a difference of 20 seconds at one time. Also, you and Winky both beat me on the Thursday Amazing Race draft, but I think I hesitated for about a half second.

Good Luck to everyone tonight! I have the feeling that this might be a wild season.

I'm for keeping the current draft style. Simple to understand, hard to master. :)

Well, sorry Navinabob, Darnell certainly didn't deserve to go tonight unless there was something they weren't showing us. That vote made no sense. At. All.

Sorry Navinabob, thanks for playing. This was a questionable vote that will hurt the Brawn tribe going forward.

First-episode-mission accomplished: I know who my player is, and she didn't get voted out or make enough waves to be a target. :)

Ouch, did not expect to go out first on this one again. Oh well

As for picking being done behind the scenes, most of my Facebook groups that does lotto draws post a Periscope video and draw names out of a hat.

Those worms must have burrowed into her brain. She just talked herself out of the game.

Good luck, everyone!

Sorry, dino88. Can't remember the last time we saw someone to go from a solid alliance to getting voted out DURING the tribal.

I don't know when contestants will learn that they're still playing the game at tribal...

Yikes! What an epic meltdown!

Sorry dino88, thanks for playing.

I would never have guessed that the Brawn tribe could make itself smarter by keeping Alecia!

As for my pick, I haven't been this disappointed in my draft choice since Mike ate that scorpion.

I thought I was done for tonight. Close one. Peter and Liz were oblivious to what was going on.

Pretty crazy to see the 1st pick gone so soon.

Sigh. The only person to ever pass the Survivor IQ test with 100% is the third voted out. I need to stop picking based on who I think will do best. I keep getting voted out before even making it to the jury!

Amazing. Five of us including me tried to draft Liz on draft night. Unfortunately, JuryDuty was successful and beat me out by a split second. Sorry my friend, this game has too many variables.

Meanwhile, I had to settle for Debbie in the draft who may have eaten a symbolic scorpion by her wacky behavior before this week.

Agreed, but I also blame the fact that Liz and Pete allowed Debbie to get to Aubrey and Neal first. Had they moved faster, they could have secured an alliance and probably moved ahead. But, as usual, pride comes before the fall.

Sorry JuryDuty, but at least you know that a bunch of us felt the same way you did. I thought Liz would go a long way. To quote Rick Perry, "Oops."

Sorry Postermen and Chowderhead. I thought Caleb would be a train wreck after seeing him on Big Brother, but loved him on Survivor. He left waaaaay too soon.

What a tough way to go out.

Jeff called him a warrior, and he was right. Giving every bit of energy he had to win a Reward Challenge.

Sorry postermen, thanks for playing. That was brutal. I live in Las Vegas, so I know how serious heat stroke can be. I think I was more surprised that Debbie and Cydney were allowed to stay than I was when Caleb was evacuated.

Sorry chowderhead thanks for playing, but Alecia was on borrowed time anyway.

Sorry lwhy? Thanks for playing. You really got the short end of the tribal mixup stick.

Julia drawing the red buff was like an immunity gift for Quack.
